First, while I would rather play X in the Finals, just because of how big that game is, I feel Trinity and St. Xavier benefit the most from the realignment. You see, it doesn't effect what either team has to do to win the title, now they get more money.

In my local area:

 

-Greenwood is a huge loser here. They move from a district where they won 3 district titles (their first ones ever) and will likely finish second again this year in, to a district with a rival they've never defeated and another they've only beaten three times. While no one will dispute that Greenwood can compete with Warren Central, they've got to prove they can compete with Bowling Green. No district titles look to be possible on the horizon for the Gators, and they'll be fighting most years (perhaps an uphill battle) to even play at home in the playoffs. Most years their second round opponent will be either Bowling Green or Christian County, neither of which they are successful against.

 

-Logan County - It's kind of relative because they weren't all that successful in the district they're leaving, but they at least proved themselves competitive against AC/S, Warren East, and the like. They even won a playoff game last year. That's not likely to happen again anytime soon as they'll find themselves lucky to get in the playoffs, and annually will be rewarded with a loss to Christian County.

 

-Russellville - They're geographic losers, but may gain competitively from playing schools of a similar size. Obviously being in a district with Mayfield is a problem, but Russellville has had success in the past in 1A.

 

-Bowling Green - As mentioned earlier, the big bad wolf of the east is out of the equation. The Purples are probably drooling at the prospects if they can get to the title game. Still obstacles in getting to the title game, but there's not a single, solitary team in the east I'd choose over Bowling Green if they got there.

 

-Allen County-Scottsville/Franklin-Simpson/Warren East - They take a moderate hit for a couple of years in that Owensboro is a huge upgrade over the teams they were matching up against in the second round, but once Lone Oak moves out it will be back to normal. May even be better if Owensboro does not sustain their success of the last few years.

 

-Warren Central/Barren County - I really consider it a push. I don't think either had their situations significantly improved or degraded. Barren County does have the negative of having to fight for a playoff spot, but may be able to do it in Logan County. They still won't ever be higher than 4th in the district. Warren Central replaces a team that has given them troubles (Grayson County) with another that is on the uptick (Greenwood), so a push there as well. The problem for Warren Central will remain as it always has been - Bowling Green, and to a lesser extent, Christian County.

Who suffers

 

Male and Manual. They may as well go ahead an reserve the busses and schedule field repairs for the week of the first round of the playoffs next year.

 

Who benefits

 

Butler, PRP, Southern & Seneca. That's one ugly district. I would be shocked if any of those teams finish higher then 3rd in their current districts and three of them lose in the first round this year.

Honestly, after thinking about it this new alignment gives a HUGE advantage to St. X and Trinity. They have been playing each other twice a year recently anyway and now every year get the money from the second game. The facilities will only get better with the added cash!

Simon Kenton although they now have to travel benifits from the realignment...They have proven that their current district is no longer challenging to them and they have caught onto the vanilla schemes that they run year in and year out...SK will now face new schemes with better athletes which will prepare them more for the playoffs...Also dominating Lexington will spread the word of them becoming a powerhouse to a new area because in the next few years nky would have finally caught onto it anyways...Maybe the new district can give SK a chance to play their starters for an entire game!

They'll probably need to make sure the University of Louisville never again schedules a home game for the third week in November. Can you imagine those two playing a regional final at either's home field? No way they could handle that type of crowd.

I'm sure Bracken County would rather be in a Distict with Ludlow and Dayton.

Iroquois, while probably not hurt worse than they already are, certainly weren't helped.

For T&X, I'm fine if they are in the same district. It sucks for Male and Manual, though. I really am disappointed that Ballard is gone, as it's a great natural rivalry and Ballard is emerging. I think that of the teams in that district, Seneca will benefit the most.

Hmmm... Since Raceland likes to schedule up anyways... Can I assume they'll continue to schedule LCA? Without a trip to Raceland to partake in the BEST high school football atmosphere anywhere... football just won't be the same for LCA anymore if that doesn't happen. It's downright criminal of the KHSAA to take that amazing sampling of food off of LCA's plate!

Well put. I could not believe a SK supporter would even have the nerve to write something like that. I'm looking at a poster that reflects SK's last trip to the BIG DANCE....and reflects something like 48-0. If I had been on the short end of that I would like to think I would have to good sense to wait until I at least did something to help erase that fiasco - before "I boldly predicted where I had never been before.":D

Facts are facts SK is beginning to own their current district and that cant help you come playoff time...Although Lexington schools always underachieve they play a style more similar too what SK will see against the Louisville schools in the playoffs...

 

You're right, beating Conner and Cooper this year and beating Ryle last year means you are starting to own 6A. I've got news for you, 6A in NKY is better than 6A in Lexington...
