Then again, maybe it's the whole part that Corbin and Bell County are mainstays in what we all think of when we think "Mountain Football", actually, the heart (geographically and traditionally) of mountain football. And, the idea that they could potentially be playing a 1st round playoff game v.s a Louisville school and/or one within 45 mins of Louisville seems insane. Especially when they have the likes of many, many, many eastern kentucky schools within in a much closer drive.

To the last statement, unfortunately, that is going to be true for whomever you put in D4, be it Bell, Corbin, etc or Casey, Garrard, etc. Somebody is going to have to go west.

 

In Bell's case, assuming they win their district, then we are only talking about a road game for regional championship every other year, and a road game for semifinals every other year. That averages to one road playoff game per year, which isn't too bad, and means that they have made it deep in the playoffs.

Actually, the problem is an easy fix if the KHSAA weren't worried about being politically correct and making sure to have 5 teams in each district. Going back to my proposed alignment, all you do to balance the travel out like it should be is by adding Breathitt County to either districts 6 or 7 (or break those apart and realign) then leave the 4 team district of Wayne, McCreary Central, Corbin and Bell.

It doesn't matter what they did in the past its what their doing now and thats sweeping district again...Some fresh competition cant hurt them... since the teams in SK's current system never do anything in the playoffs, then playing them in the regular season does nothing to prepare SK for the playoffs

 

No one can question your fanhood that's for sure. SK is a good program there are far from becoming a powerhouse. They made a great run as underdogs to the finals but were quickly put in place by the true power in 6A. They need trophies before they can be a legit power program. They are on the right track but we'll see how they reapond after this years class departs. I hope they do become a power but they have a lot of work to be done to get there

Sticker Mann what do you mean NCC raids there players, NCC has had football for 60 years.

Simon Kenton although they now have to travel benifits from the realignment...They have proven that their current district is no longer challenging to them and they have caught onto the vanilla schemes that they run year in and year out...SK will now face new schemes with better athletes which will prepare them more for the playoffs...Also dominating Lexington will spread the word of them becoming a powerhouse to a new area because in the next few years nky would have finally caught onto it anyways...Maybe the new district can give SK a chance to play their starters for an entire game!

 

Wow! Yes a powerhouse. If so why didn't Highlands ever show up on their schedule? Funny how that works.
