Please, don't anyone ever say that T or X fans have the arrogance market cornered again. At least X and T have both earned some of their arrogance.

 

Come on now, it was only a couple years ago that SK came withing 40 something points of winning state! Who say's they haven't earned their stripes????

Male and Manual. They may as well go ahead an reserve the busses and schedule field repairs for the week of the first round of the playoffs next year.

 

Who benefits

 

Butler, PRP, Southern & Seneca. That's one ugly district. I would be shocked if any of those teams finish higher then 3rd in their current districts and three of them lose in the first round this year.

 

Financially these three suffer.

As for T & X, quietly I believe they are really quite happy, including having Male and Manual as the other two teams. Bigger gates year in and year out and better competition. Kind of funny that the past 13 state champions (and 20 of the last 22!)will all be in the same district!:eek::taz::eek::taz::eek::taz::eek:

Was this where Cooper was predicted to land? This is one of those rare instances where there's actually more than 4 in the district. I saw a 3 team district in 6A. That seems like a waste.

On a local level:

 

Mason County and the rest of 3A District 6 benefit in terms of playoff chances with Russell moving down to 2A.

 

3A District 5 has a new look. Bourbon County moves down in class while Bath County moves up.

 

Bishop Brossart has made great strides in just a few years. They will need to continue on that path in a district with the likes of Holy Cross, Newport and NewCath.

And 8 of the past 13 state Runners-up have been from this district, though that number would be higher if the playoffs were somehow seeded.:sssh:

A team I feel sorry for from the area I am from is Middlesboro. They have long road trips and hafta go against Danville, Somerset, and Lex Christian.

Hmmm... Since Raceland likes to schedule up anyways... Can I assume they'll continue to schedule LCA? Without a trip to Raceland to partake in the BEST high school football atmosphere anywhere... football just won't be the same for LCA anymore if that doesn't happen. It's downright criminal of the KHSAA to take that amazing sampling of food off of LCA's plate!

Honestly, I hope we continue to play LCA, it has become a great football atmosphere. I'm game if everyone else is. If not, I will miss some of the relationships that have come from the game. Good all around game in my book.

Same way lots of us feel about the potential loss of long-time rivalry games. I was glad when Fleming County came back into the fold; Russell will be missed.

Franklin County really benefits from this game. In the past 10 years or so, the Flyers cannot get over the 2nd round hump game as they are always pitted with Boyle, Lex. Cath or Highlands. This new district is one the Flyers can win every year especially with their young talent. I am pleased as a Flyer fan.

Walton and Brossart were likely to by pass the three river schools in class A so those three (Bellevue Dayton and Ludlow) have to love them going to 2A........................Of course for Walton and Brossart going in with NCC and Holy Cross is not good.

 

So Walton and Brossart having their first good year, means they were going to be by passing the river schools? Wow, its funny how a little success means teams are always going to be good. Both are building good programs, but both have a lot of building to do. Those river schools you talked about go through cycles. Bellevue just lost a loaded team from last year, so they are down this year. Ludlow only has 3 seniors on the team, and only one who I believe that plays much. Brossart and Walton were not likely to by pass these schools at all, they were just getting to a point to where they can now compete and win some of them.

East Ridge has to be on a downer.

They have always had to deal with Belfry and Sheldon Clark and Pike County Central.

But being in a 4 team district they still had a guaranteed playoff spot.

Now you throw in Lawrence County to the district and the post season looks unlikely for the Warriors.

 

 

Its a shame too, they are making some progress over there.

Oh, I don't disagree at all with your thinking. I'm one of those lone voices in the wilderness there (saying virtually the same thing about UK's football schedule has me practically branded as a lunatic). But the fact is that Holmes has been dealt a much tougher hand.

Brossart has just went back to starting over.

Iroquois, while probably not hurt worse than they already are, certainly weren't helped.

For T&X, I'm fine if they are in the same district. It sucks for Male and Manual, though. I really am disappointed that Ballard is gone, as it's a great natural rivalry and Ballard is emerging. I think that of the teams in that district, Seneca will benefit the most.

 

We can still play Ballard if they will schedule us. Replace one of the Cincinnati teams.
