Tough move for the Mustangs, who go from a young program becoming competitive in a tough 1-A district (Beechies aside); to being the smallest school in 2-A, and in a very tough district that includes NCC, who already raids their feeder schools for talent.

Simon Kenton although they now have to travel benifits from the realignment...They have proven that their current district is no longer challenging to them and they have caught onto the vanilla schemes that they run year in and year out...SK will now face new schemes with better athletes which will prepare them more for the playoffs...Also dominating Lexington will spread the word of them becoming a powerhouse to a new area because in the next few years nky would have finally caught onto it anyways...Maybe the new district can give SK a chance to play their starters for an entire game!

What in the world are you talking about? By no means is Sk a powerhouse. They won district one time in the past decade which was last year? Dominating? Not exactly. Once Lawrence is gone they have nothing left. Lawrence is one of the best Qbs in the state in my opinion. With him gone they are nothing.

District no longer challenging???? Seriously, how about winning the district more than 1 time before making statements like this. SK was a laughing stock for many years. 1 or 2 years of winning doesn't erase that. When you win a state championship in FOOTBALL, then, maybe you can make statements like that.

Yes. However, I just know that they would prefer to have Ft. Campbell and Corbin still in it. The deeper the talent in your class, the more valuable the championship, in my opinion.

Very true, but mainly to criticize what most feel is an already flawed system. This is doing nothing but rehashing the initial feelings when 6A came to fruition. I do not see this as any worse than what already exists. Fans of competitive football lose and have now lost for 4 years.

I'm actually a bit optimistic about the change. It will create some new and possibly interesting rivalries, and this may cause some buzz and get people more excited.

 

Also, when Holmes was last in with Highlands and CovCath they were a doormat. However, they have a very good coach and a couple of years of success under their belts... I am eager to see how Holmes will fare in the district with HHS and CCH this time around.

 

I am also curious to see how Simon Kenton will do in their new district.

 

For what it's worth, IMO this is something different than the KHSAA going to six classes. I think that move may have done some damage in terms of competitiveness. I don't see this change having the same effect.
