It's a safe call with a veteran QB in there, but what about a true freshman QB who had no prior big game experience being asked to read and excecute it in the Championship game? Bad move IMO by Mack.

Plenty of very dumb coaching decisions on both sides last night. How did those two manage to get their teams into the National Championship Game????

The safest playcall was a knee. Or better yet, not calling a timeout in the first place. The odds just weren't good that they would get a score, and it surely wasn't a good risk/reward tradeoff. At that stage, it was far more likely that something could go wrong than the possibility that they could break it for a big play down the field to get some points. I think they'd had like 30 yards of offense without McCoy at that point. If it took place with 1:30, I could get behind it, but with 20 seconds or so, they should have gone into the locker room thankful to be down 11. As well as they ended up playing by the end of the third quarter, who knows what happens if they're down 7 less.

The qb hit the running back in the hands with the ball wasn't his fault. The announcers kept going on about the freshmens play but if his team would have caught some of those balls they dropped in the first half that would have helped especially the one in the endzone which should have been caught for sure.

Congrats to Bama. I am sure it's been said a ton of times..but unfortunately most people will not be talking about how Bama won this, but what if Colt never got hurt. Which is very unfair to Bama. I thought they were the best team pretty much all year, but I think that with Colt, Texas just might have been better than them this game. Don't want to take anything from Bama, they deserve the championship.

I pretty much lost interest in this game when McCoy went down.

Congrats to Alabama on the win, and winning another championship for the SEC. I'm happy for all of the die hard Tide fans on here. I really don't understand Saban scoring that last touchdown though. It showed a lack of class IMO. Why not just take the knee, and run the clock out? Did he feel that the margin needed to be bigger since McCoy missed all but 4 plays of the game? I also echo the sentiments of those who have already praised McCoy on the way he handled himself after the game. A very classy young man, and I wish him huge success in his pro career.

 

 

I disagree 100%. They were up 31-21. Only 10 points. A TO and a Texas TD makes it a 3 point game and an onside kick with a FG ties it, or a TD gives Texas the lead. He was down near the goal line and just ran basic plays. The almost got in trouble by taking their foot off the gas. Up by 10 is not a blowout and I thought Saban did the right thing in that situation. Much stranger things have happened. I honestly don't think I have ever seen Saban intentionally run up the score and don't think he did that here either.

Hats off to Alabama, it's players and coaches. Nick Saban has brought Alabama back, and they are stronger than ever before IMO, I think we will be seeing Nick Saban getting drenched with Gatorade many, many times in years to come. I can't say enough about Mark Ingram, a 20 year old who has to deal with his father being imprisoned is tough on its own, but doing it while playing Division-1 College Football and producing at the level he has this season is amazing. Ingram has always carried himself very well throughout the post season build up to the title, and it has been a pleasure to watch this kid run the football all over opposing defenses, no matter how heralded that defense may have been coming into that game.

 

Larry, I'd say you're extremely happy, I can't wait to see what Florida can do next season when they travel to Tuscaloosa, this rivalry will end up being one of the better rivalries in the country IMO. Roll Tide.

Everyone talks about how good of a person Tebow is, but McCoy gave a very respectable and impressive interview after the game.

 

Couldn't agrre wtih you more! I such adversity to himself and to the team, he did one heck of a job. Speaks very well of the young man and of his parents.

Agree totally. It was a display of poor sportsmanship that had to leave viewers around the country in disbelief. There was no chance of a turnover, no chance for a comeback at that point, and no excuse for such a pointless action.

And far from a kid. Tough question? Sure. Over the top? Not at all...

 

 

Not only a tough question, it was a stupid question. McCoy turned it into a positive but not before teetering on totally breaking down. Had that occurred instead it would have been extremely unfair to him being that he did nothing wrong. I could have understood if she would have asked about his injury, I'm sure a lot of people were wondering how badly he was injured.

 

I know you're a media member and both you and Jim usually defend them but try to answer this objectively. Do you really think that her asking him how he felt about getting knocked out on the first series was an intelligent and necessary question? Didn't you and pretty much everyone else already know that he felt crushed and extremely disappointed? It wasn't like it was some ground breaking information was gained from it. My point was with such an obvious question it could have waited until a press conference when he'd have had time to compose himself.

 

Let's put it this way, if you had the microphone is that a question you would have felt needed to be answered at that point in time and would you have asked it there?

Am I the only person who thinks Colt McCoy might have been injured prior to the game last night?

 

I did not see anything after replay after replay to make me think his shoulder/arm injury occurred on that play.

 

I think he was damaged goods prior to the game.

On most punt teams certain player looks for reads in formation. #13 Cory Reamer was our guy. The punter misread the read and thru the pass due to mis information from Cory. Do you really think our coach would call this pass when it was 4th and 17? The Coach will take the Blame, not put it on the kid.

 

Going for the last TD. The way we have handled their Kick offs losing 2 almost three you need to score. We get a late pick and took a knee, we try and score and y'all can cry, but we wanted a score and got one. If your team scores its OK, a team/Coach does this that you don't care for and you want to moan. I'd thrown a long pass on the final play...you don't want to play me in Ping Pong.
