No, the finalists won't be named until after the season. Until then, any senior player is technically eligible.

I think what some have hinted at but not come out and said is that Macshara's numbers have come against VERY weak competition. Of the 3 teams Boyle has played, those teams played a total of 7 games between them and only have 1 win amongst them. That one win was Rockcastle County over Wayne County, Way County is also 0-2.

 

I know the kids gotta be good but those numbers seem to be a bit skewed.

Hence my statement, "It's too early. We will have to see as the season progresses." It's also a little too early to pronounce them skewed.

Yup I think this kinda stuff is all subject to alot of change. Have a much better reading come week 7 or 8.

Bardo and Collinsworth are probably going to cancel each other other. Highlands has two balanced of an attack probably the best in the state. A kid on a run heavy team could slide ahead of either of them.

Rees MacShara if French will give him the numbers he needs. I would vote for him.

It depends on how many voters see Collinsworth. If you see him in person, you realize just how good he truly is. His vision and cutting ability are unparalelled. Beechwood had him cornered against the sideline for a loss with 4 guys ready to make the hit. Three jukes and he goes 71 yards for a TD without even being touched. One of the best high school runs I have seen in a long, long time. From talking with others, he does something like that every week.

 

Bardo is good but I would need to see more of him. He is going to get stats because of who he starts for. But his receivers made him look good in the Beechwood game. He just throws the ball up in the air and says go get it and his receivers outrun everyone to the ball. That is just how it looked in the one game I saw.

Rees MacShara if French will give him the numbers he needs. I would vote for him.

 

 

I would hope that French and Rees would gladly have Rees come out of the game to perserve energy and avoiding the chance for injury by taking him out. We go as far as Rees takes us. Well, him and our defense, but we need Rees. If he has to forgoe Mr. Football for a State Championship then that's what we have to do.:thumb:

Those are the exact same things we say about Rees. His 5 td runs against Rockcastle were all like you described.

I have seen a couple of posts on here stating that if such and such can win the title or get to the title game they can win MR. Football. If I remember correctly the voting is done even before the semifinals. Seems like I remember people around Boyle talking about his very thing when Brandon Smith finished second to Curtis Pulley because they played in the semi's and Brandon thoroughly outplayed Pulley.
