Ryan Wilson from Dixie has 617 passing yards.

Rees MacShara- 3 games- 587 rushing yards-8 tds

26 receiving yards-1 td

28 yard interception return for 1 td

His stats would be even higher in all categories, but he has only played in 8 quarters out of a possible 12 quarters due to the games being decided by the 2nd or 3rd quarter. He has yet to be involved in the offense in the 4th quarter of any game and he came out after the 1st series of the 3rd quarter against Pikeville. Not to mention that the Boyle County Rebels will likely go as far as Rees' feet will take us. If we win the 4A State Championship, he should be Mr. Football.

My vote for Mr. Football is Williamsburg's QB "Ryan Moses". Not only athletic but smart.

Does that mean that his stats are skewered because he has not been playing any competition?

I guess we won't know that until the season plays out some more.

Currently Johnson Central is not what many thought they would be.

Rockastle has not looked bad except vs. Boyle

Pikeville doesn't look to be very good outside of Class A right now.

We'll see. Of course if Rees hadn't rushed for about 1,700 last year vs. Danville, Lafayette, Henry Clay, among others we could say it was weak competition. The jury is out. :thumb:

Right, it is definitely early in the season. I really don't recall anyone playing anyone too tough in their season so far, however, Johnson Central could still end up being a top 10 team in 5A by the end of the year and Rockcastle is likely to remain in the top 10 of 4A all year.

Hatz, don't forget to add LexCath(twice), Mercer, and Bell County to that list as well.

We Boyle County fans know football enough to know he is not likely going to win it, but if we didn't believe he had a chance or at least deserved the recognition as one of the best in the state then we wouldn't even be posting on this thread. You can rest assured we will continue to keep posting hoping that one day he gets recognized by those outside of Boyle County for his accomplishments and the success he has helped bring and restore to the Boyle County football program. :thumb:

In my eyes whether he wins the award or not is of little concern to me. In all reality, he'll always be the 2009 Mr. Football in my eyes, hardware or not. :ylsuper:

GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:

Has Rees Macshara even touched the ball more than 13 times in a game?

This kid is a terror for other teams. He's a threat to the endzone every time he touches the ball. His yard per carry has to be around 15 a carry or more. PurplePride, what exactly is his yard per carry? Go Rebs! :thumb:

The bad part is he doesn't have to touch the ball more than 13-15 times a game. If he did there is no doubt he'd be leading the state in all sorts of categories. His numbers are unreal... He HASN'T HAD to carry the ball any more than 15 times a game yet to accumulate almost 700 yards of offense and at least 10 TD's (Not to mention nooone will kick to him). He would be silly given more touches-but BC has to keep him helalthy. I'm sure BC is using him sparingly seeing as he is how he is such a great asset. Unlike many Mr. Football prospects - where there coaches try to get them stats and into the high school picture....Just think this young man should definetely be considered. HE IS DEFINETELY IN THE TOP 5 KIDS IN THE STATE! Watch any films you can find~~~

unfortunately Rees is at a huge disadvantage. If he were the only back Boyle had his numbers would be out of the roof. But that is not the case Boyle has 2-3 other backs who run the ball very well. We also should consider minutes played. Rees was pulled form the Pikeville game early as Boyle had a commanding lead. One should not only look at his numbers but how his influnce on the field changes the entire game.

Good luck Rees the Rebel nation is pulling for you.

Haven't the 5 candidates already been chosen? Aren't they Fugate, Collinsworth, Simpson, Weaver, and Patterson?

It is not a presidential election, canidates do not stay static. Weaver is out for the season, Fugate hasn't done much yet this year and the Patterson kid has been underwhelming in his performances this year.

We need to have the poll redone or start a new thread that includes kids that are having great years this year which is the intent of the award. I get tired of hearing about how great a player was last year, that was then and this is now.

P.S. - we need 2 Mr. Football awards 1A-3A and 4A-6A, otherwise stop suggesting 2A kids for Mr. Football, they play JV compared to 5A and 6A.

Really? Any 2A team in the state of Kentucky is simply a JV team compared to Kentucky's 5A and 6A squads? That's quite a statement you've made and I, for one, find it rather disturbing. Don't discredit what any player on that field does because they play in a class of football other than what YOU think is the cream of the crop!

Bottom line is that the Mr. Football award is NOT broken down by 1A-3A and 4A-6A, so each and every outstanding player has to be graded on an even keel.

Later.
