Collinsworth didn't play at all tonight. How much does that hurt his chances?

Tonight against Paduch Tilghman he had 11 carries for 215 yards, 3 TDs in the first half. Also had a passing TD but not sure of his other passing stats as of right now.

 

He also had a great block on a long run that resulted in anotehr TD.

 

My vote is still for Antonio Andrews.

Before tonight's game Rees MacShara had 35 carries for 620 yards and 9 tds(per the Danville Advocate Messenger).

 

After tonight's game he has 43 carries for 841 yards and 13 tds. Boyle County is still undefeated and he has yet to play a whole game despite being the focal point of the offense.

 

His averages to date........

 

19.6 yards per carry

 

1 td every 3.3 carries.

 

He is also the starting cornerback on defense, but I am not privy to his defensive stats. I do know he has an interception return for a td.

 

 

Besides Antonio Andrews, who else would be the front runners for Mr. Football after this week? Especially after Fugate's 3rd below average performance in a row, Collinsworth didn't play tonight and Simpson's team lost tonight?

Three sub par performances could hurt Fugate's chances, I would think taht every games missed could hurt a chance at Mr. Football, and just because a team loses does not mean the player will not be in the running. I still think it might be a little early to tell.

I agree with your whole post. I just think that if you have a guy who is the leader of his team and has some of the best stats in the state like MacShara and Andrews have, the fact that their team is undefeated would validate the honor of being Mr. Football since they would play a large part in their team's success.

 

If I had a vote, their team's win/loss record would play a part in my decision. I know that's just my opinion, but I would definitely factor that into my choice in my vote.

Tevin McCaden from Bryan Station - 4 games - 889 yards - 15 TD's

and the kid played the last two games with a pulled groin and still averaged 220 in those games. If you have seen the kid play then you know he is one of the best in the state.

 

McShara is doing a great job and his stats are awesome vs mighty Pikeville and Rockcastle, I'm interested to see what he does against Lafayette and Lex Cath to see if he is legit.

The cream is starting to rise to the top as the season moves along. The true contender is separating from the pretenders. If you look at the votes on the poll, there are some that probably need to reconsider their vote. This is about Mr. Football 09, it doesn't really matter if somebody had 3,000 plus yards rushing last year. It is not a contest to determine the most popular football player in NKY either. Antonio Andrews is Mr. Football

Lucas Witt and Dominque Hayden (LCA) should be at least mentioned.

LexCath already knows how legit he is(x2).

 

I am interested to see how he does against Lafayette myself. He had 126 yards on 20 carries(no tds) last year against Lafayette. I'd love to see what he does with 20 carries against Lafayette this year.:popcorn:

Right now, Andrews, Macshara, Simpson and Collinsworth are my leading 4.

 

Collinsworth is impressive, just seeing him you know he is something really special and he can do it all.

 

Simpson is a beast, and has single handedly changed the face of Simon Kenton football IMO. He has put them on the radar and they have a good amount of talent on that team, but he is an absolute standout. He's a rarity. One loss against a quality opponent shouldn't hurt his chances.

 

I haven't seen MacShara play, but if you keep putting up those numbers you get my respect and if I had a vote to give you'd get it. That is absolutely insane. Just a question, how good is Boyle County? Are the opponents quality opponents right now, or are is this a particularly cupcaked portion of the schedule? I truly don't know that's why I'm asking. Those numbers are something else..

 

Andrews has just always impressed me, and his numbers do the talking.
