The cream is starting to rise to the top as the season moves along. The true contender is separating from the pretenders. If you look at the votes on the poll, there are some that probably need to reconsider their vote. This is about Mr. Football 09, it doesn't really matter if somebody had 3,000 plus yards rushing last year. It is not a contest to determine the most popular football player in NKY either. Antonio Andrews is Mr. Football

It's also not a contest to name the best player from an undefeated team. I'm sure Andrews is the real deal, I respect all the FC posters, but just because Collinsworth didn't play tonight and Simon Kenton lost doesn't mean they should lose credibility. Miles Simpson didn't lose tonight, he actually made some spectacular plays, against one of the fastest teams in the state, he sure shouldn't have lost any votes after his performance tonight. I could care less what part of the state these players come from, we all should be pulling for each and every one of these guys, they are phenomenal players.

Simpsons' name being there has nothing to do with being the most popular football player in NKY. He deserves every bit of recognition based on his play. It isn't a popularity contest, or a vote for prom king or queen, but it's starting to seem that way with the endorsement at the end of every post you make.

Andrews deserves every bit of recognition as well, but don't taint his name by attaching it to your put downs of two of the best football players in NKY and the state in Collinsworth and Simpson. I appreciate your enthusiasm don't get me wrong, but to try and discredit either of those two young men is sad.

Boyle County is very good. There are a lot of high expectations with this team as they continue to get better every week. We expected a lot more from Johnson Central, to be quite honest, and while it means little at this point, when the season started our schedule had 8 teams that were ranked in preseason polls. It looks cupcake now, but when we saw the schedule, a lot of people said that we won't go undefeated this year, but we should be able to compete for a state championship. Unfortunately, all of the teams we expected trouble from such as Johnson Central, Danville, Lexcath are all "down" this year. Lafayette and Christian County will be great barometers for exactly how good this team can or will be. Honestly, the best looking team we have faced so far has been Rockcastle County and at least they are currently ranked in the top 10(#10) of 4A. Hopefully if Rees(which quite honestly I expect since he will likely actually get to play a whole game) keeps doing what he has been doing against Lafayette and LexCath, maybe he will earn a little more respect.

I will say that at this point, I would think that Andrews is the front runner with Rees a very close second.

I think that Conner High School QB Nick West should be one of the candidates for Mr. Football. Yes, he might run the ball alot, but most Quarterbacks in NKY look up to him as an inspiration. He is over all one of the best 6-A QB's in Kentucky.

Right now, Andrews, Macshara, Simpson and Collinsworth are my leading 4.

Agreed.

I just hope that in the end the voters watch film on all the leading candidates and make an unbiased judgment based on overall performance. Regardless of who wins, all these young men are deserving of the recognition they receive.

Without a doubt, and I can't believe he isn't even a choice, Rees MacSherra at Boyle County. He's not getting the # of carries as some of the others, because its usually a running clock in the 2nd half and the JV is in, but his YPC (37 last night, and around 21 for the seaon) is way up there as well as his touchdown total, he had 4 last night.

Last night he had 6 rush attempts, 4 touchdowns, for 222 yards all in the first half. and did not rush any the second half. Why take the risk just to pad his stats. If he was unleashed the whole game, he would be averaging close to 350-400 yards per game. I know that sounds high, but he's that good.

LCA running back:

Dominique Hayden 765 yds 12 td 11.3 avg

6 rec 136 yds 2 td

On pace to break the state All-TIME touchdown record!

LCA QB:

Lucas Witt 659 yds passing 11 tds 0 int

182 rushing 2 td 8.3 avg

Both players have been seeing limited action because of blowouts

How is this any different than some of the other names that have been mentioned in here. A few of these guys are putting up these numbers while only playing 1/2 of the game, somtimes they play less than that. I think he is doing comparable to those that he is being compared with for the most part, and with about the same amount of playing time.

It isn't any different, but we Rebel fans aren't going anywhere.:D

The key words you said are a few of these guys. As long as Rees is one of the few, we will be around promoting our hometown son for Mr. Football as long as we can. What can I say......we love Rees MacShara.:thumb:

West is very good. But c'mon, their only legitimate contest has been Dixie.

A few is really only two - Rees MacShara & Antonio Andrews

I was just saying I can't believe he's not on the selection board. I don't have the stats on these other players, but if you would be so kind to share your knowledge I would be grateful. In paricular, do you have Channing Fugates stats for the season?
