Wow, a Kentucky writer votes BCG coach of the year, shocker.

All my loyalties aside, what has he done to warrant it?

Hasn't he, if anything, not lived up to expectations, underachieved for a good portion of the season, and alienated his players?

The talent may not have been elite but they are not horrible!

Remember where Forde lives...

And just a few lines laters says...

"Minutes Moment of the Year: Gardner-Webb (22) houses Kentucky in Rupp Arena 84-68. And it wasn't even that close."

From the way the season started to this point, UK has made a 180, which is a sign of great coaching... he has a legit point, I guess.

I think if you are looking at the SEC portion of the schedule only that he would be right up there along with Bruce Pearl. I'm not kidding myself, the out of conference games we were terrible and I didn't know how long BCG would be around but we have turned it around.

It's no secret that the players don't like him.

I am not buying that.

At the start of the season, getting adjusted, maybe not the best of times, but the response to Gillisipie has been amazing the past few weeks.

How can you have high expectations with the injuries UK has suffered through? Jasper missed significant time, Meeks has missed significant time, Patterson is now out for the year....

Better SEC record than the previous two years.

Beat two ranked teams (something UK didn't do even once last year)

Beat Vandy (something UK hadn't done in 2 years)

He also still has a shot of Florida, who UK hasn't beaten in 4(?) years at this point.

And he did all of that while fighting huge injuries.

The SEC is way down from the previous two years.

He might have beat Vandy, but when was the last time UK got stomped into the mud by Vandy?

Injuries are part of the game... I don't think UK fans have been handing out much sympathy the past few years for Louisville when the Cards had the injury bug.

For the record, Pat Forde is one of the biggest homers in sports. I've even started threads about how (overly) complimentary he is of Louisville.
