gchs_uk9
Do they have an online newspaper?? or can you provide a link?? No online edition, sorry. The sports writer there is usually "in-the-know" on most issues, but I think many of the names that were mentioned were more "wishful thinking." I suspect we will know something soon. gchs_uk9
That is good to hear. Can't believe there are no names being dropped though. Must be someone from outside the program/area. I think it probably is. It might be a surprise to many folks, too, depending upon who it is. I fully expect the pickers to make a good choice for the program at Garrard County. catlion
Who are the pickers? Is it the school administration only? Is there a committee? What is the process being used?

I'm guessing the administration, specifically the athletic director, would make the call. I've heard nothing about a committee.
Roy Munson
It is being kept private. I'm not sure why people think there haven't been interviews...who in charge of the process at Garrard has actually said that? From a recent discussion with the athletic director, I'm under the assumption that a coach will be hired within the next ten days. Tell me this - How can anyone hire a football coach in the next 10 days when there is a huge debate on what the "actual" school colors are??? Isn't that a prerequisite to put a new coach? So I think your time frame is off. Also, good athletic directors like the one at Garrard does not leak information out to the public so I'd have to be somewhat skeptical of your information anyways. If I was a coach looking for a new place, I would definitely want to know what uniforms and I could wear and what I could not. I would also not want to wear uniforms that the community made me wear because they think adding an extra color or changing the shade of the gold and cardinal "goes against the tradition". Get real! You seriously have to be kidding about this! The Advocate Messenger is "in the know", not the Sports Editor at Garrard. He is definitely not in the know. His info is usually second hand at best. His information usually derives from a personal agenda and who he fantasizes thinks should have the job. I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't put himself in for the job and maybe a few of the Lion Pride members as assistants.

Well, well. We've missed you, Roy. As for my previous post, I didn't say the athletic director told me ten days. I simply said it was implied. I could very well be wrong, which makes it more than fine for you to be "skeptical." As for the school colors, that whole thing is nonsense. If they want them red/yellow or maroon/black/gold, whatever, I could care less. But I'm pretty sure a new coach or applicant isn't going to be turned off because of a uniform issue! That probably did happen...or at least some people in the community probably wish it would!

I knew that you missed me gchs_uk9! Oh what fun we can have when the truth is spilled. Let me ask you this - if you were applying for this position and the board of ed. hung you out to dry every chance they got, cut your feet out from you and told you what to wear and what not to wear even though your in coaching because it is all about the kids, wouldn't that somewhat turn you off. From what I've heard about Garrard's administration is that they are very supportive of the coaches, programs and kids. That would really encourage a coach to come to Garrard. The turnoff is the "few" in the community that think they are in the position to hire - even though their only care is what happened in the 70's and 80's. Along with that, the board is too worried about what colors is on the jersey's and not what is best for the kids. I think that would turn me off a bit, but I'm just an outsider looking in. Roy Munson
By the way gchs-uk9, where is garrardgnat. He also seems to be so "informed" of the next football coach at Garrard. Maybe he knows something we don't??
Eaglenation
What about Big John Teater as the next coach Roy????:thumb:
catlion
If you were a coach, you would think that you would want to go to a school were tradition did matter. Colors are a valuable part of the tradition. People who mess with the colors are messing with tradition. The love of tradition should be a great turn on for a coach. Changing colors completely, I agree is messing with tradition. Adding an accent color is not. So I guess Duke, USC, Tennessee, UK(Baseball), etc. are totally changing their tradition when they added black in as an extra color. Don't think so?? I agree colors are important no doubt about that, but I think kids who were the uniforms are just as important. Sorry, I care about the kids more than the colors. Encourage him to apply because Hester, Perry and Cooper are not.:ylsuper:
