I heard there are 3 finalist. From what I understand 2 of the three are:

Poynter- from Trimble

Preston from Western

As I understand it, Preston removed his name late last week. I do think Poynter, Scenters, an assistant from LCA, a local individual and a coach from Alabama are the finalists. Still haven't seen an interview schedule.

I don't understand Coopers "Loyalty" to Stonebreaker holding him back. If Stoney left of his own will, then there is nothing disloyal about wanting to be a candidate.

Wonder why they didn't pursue any assistants from Boyle, Danville, Mercer, etc??

Perry from Danville was pursued, but he sad no. Two Boyle assistants have Garrard ties. One is rumored to be interviewing when the interviews occur.

Is this the same Scenters and Pointer who have applied for several jobs throughout the state? Is it possible that the Garrard County job has become an also ran job? I would have thought that this job would have attracted the attention of several "established" Head coaches.

I have heard from a school staff member that an announcement may come sometime this week. Still not sure since rumor about interviews was for the coming weekend. If the staff member is correct, we may not have to wait much longer.

I've only seen Poynter and Scenters names legitimately come up for the Madison Southern job and now this one. I would hardly call these two guys "also ran". Why wouldn't Scenters apply? Garrard and Madison share a border....he's looking to become a head coach some day. If I were him I'd apply for this one as well. As for Poynter, what's wrong with a guy looking at some other opportunities.
