marooncat
I don't think its really a state tournament its more like A.A.U. where you pay to play.
Kingfish Stevens
I don't think its really a state tournament its more like A.A.U. where you pay to play. Actually not. The teams are school teams and the event is considered by most to be the middle school state tournament. Nothing else would remotely qualify since it features 28 of the top teams from all over the state. Possibly if Ashland ever entered such tournaments, you would feel differently. Participation sure couldn't hurt your programs- boys and girls.
rhfan
I am pretty sure that you do not pay to play in this tournament.
play2
There is no entry fee for this tournament. Any middle school who wishes to participate may do so.
3ptshooter
8th Grade Middle School State Tournament at KBA this weekend (Nov. 9th - 11th). Out of the 28 teams who do you think will win it? It would be more of a reliable tourney if the entire state played in this. When will this state catch up w/the rest of the country and make everyone do the same thing, too much division throughout the entire state. Some/most schools are just having tryouts for their middle school teams and now you read "8th grade middle school state tournament!" How do you have a state tournament w/out the entire state involved?

Actually most teams have already started playing. The only teams in KY that starts late is the NKY teams.
Kingfish Stevens
It is always a big event for the participants. I'm glad to see that three of the 16th Region teams (Bath County, Rowan County, and Rose Hill) are in it.

Some/most schools are just having tryouts for their middle school teams and now you read "8th grade middle school state tournament!" How do you have a state tournament w/out the entire state involved? It is considered a state tournament because it is open to all middle school teams in the state and there is no fee to play. If a school chooses not to play, then that is their choice. Most middle school teams have had tryouts and have had practices. I think Twenhofel has a very good chance to make some noise in the tournament.
20/20Hindsight
A few questions: When and where is the tournament? Who do I contact if I want my school to become involved? Is this for just 8th grade or is there a separate tournament for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades? Thanks in advance for the info!!

Time and Score
The 32nd district went 3-1 in the tournament. Twenhofel won Friday night and lost Saturday morning. Walton-Verona went 2-0, then had to leave because of a scheduling conflict.
