I’m guessing if a statement was going to be made/released, it would have already happened. I doubt it would have changed anything. The people with negative feeling towards the school or administrators would still have them. Those who support the school and administrators will continue to support. 

My understanding is that CovCath’s enrolllment annually averages about 35-40% out of district. I’m not so sure how that percentage plays out with their sports, but my guess is it’s pretty close. My point is, build it and they will come! Highlands did it with Mueller. Beechwood with Yeagle. I would also argue this applies to academics as well as sports. The new Ignite School comes to mind. 

As for Scott and the HOF, I cannot imagine any reason why Rowe or Bacigalupo would withdraw his HOF election, much less his dismissal from coaching. And let’s be honest, no critical thinker could possibly believe Scott resigned to concentrate on the family business. Rowe and Bacigalupo love winning and understand what a good sports program brings to a school. Scott is obviously a great coach, and according to the vast majority who played for him, Scott is a man they look up to. From what I understand, there has always been mutual admiration among Scott, Rowe, and Bacigalupo. 

It is my belief that when Nick called the diocese and was told Scott withdrew, he was misinformed. Whether that was deliberate or not, is another story, though I wouldn’t put it past the diocese to make CovCath look like the bad guys. One thing I’m 100% sure of, is this message didn’t come from Rowe or Bacigalupo. 

The school is in a no-win situation. As someone else alluded to, it’s not smart to question your boss, or do anything to make him/her look bad. Seems to me, Rowe and Bacigalupo have no choice but to remain silent, which is why they haven’t released a statement. Worse yet, the they have no choice but to look like the bad guys.  Defending themselves by pursuing the truth could very well result in losing jobs they love. Darned if you do, darned if you don’t.

So, in a sense, you’re calling Cov Cath racist without directly calling them racist? Are we really saying that prioritizing talent and hard work over entitlement is a problem? Or that welcoming transfer students—players seeking opportunities to grow, compete, and secure scholarships—somehow reflects poorly on the program?

The reality is simple: Coach Ruthsatz ran his team like a well-oiled machine. He assigned roles based on ability, effort, and what best served the team—not on how much influence someone’s family held or how loudly they complained. His goal wasn’t just to win games, it was to instill life values in the young men he coached. He held himself to the same high standards he expected from his players. That’s called leadership.

If you want participation trophies or “fairness” based on personal connections, the local rec league might be a better fit. But if you’re looking for someone to prepare young men for the challenges of real life—on and off the field—then be grateful for coaches like Scott Ruthsatz.

Finally, the numbers don’t lie. As Justchillen pointed out above, Scott's record speaks for itself. Winning percentages aren’t based on opinions, and they show Scott was not just deserving but the Best.

If "some people" that you're referring to, choose to criticize from anonymous accounts or behind veiled intentions, their opinions lack credibility. The truth will always outshine the noise.

Ya know what, I don't really care to hear whatever explanation anyone tries to make for that though. Some people have made it clear that they are taking one side here and some people have made it clear that they are taking the other. And that's cool. That's one of the neat parts of being American. We can all have differing opinions on things and it's okay. And it's okay when one person gets on Facebook and rants like a lunatic, and it's okay when he gets himself all pumped up by counting page clicks because "he's just made different". It's all okay.

Well, his ability to pose a logical string of thoughts on social media isn't exactly okay, but oh well.

For the Diocese / CCH to not have anything to say.....as mentioned above, that silence is loud. 

 

Maybe they don't want to take away from the other deserving HOF inductee's tonight. Sadly, this will put a dark cloud over the 2014 and 2018 championship teams, and could end up delaying or possibly eliminating their shots at HOF as well...Sad situation. What a shame that Nick is the only one standing up for his dad. You may disagree with his methods, but at least respect him for having his family's back.

It's sad that that it needs to be looked at like that for all parties involved. Not something that should be looked at in that point of view. The families involved want to look back on it at some point throughout the rest of their lives. Highly prestigious achievement for all with the honor and congratulations to them!

I thought the same thing when I read that comment, Honey Badger. I have a friend being inducted to the Hall of Fame tonight and another guy who I was a year behind at Cov Cath who is being inducted posthumously tonight. It's definitely a big honor for both of them and for their families, and it's sad that the circumstances around this year's induction ceremony has anyone feeling like they're going to be happy to have it out of the way and forgotten about.

We can all speculate all we want, but the truth of the matter is that no one really knows what happened but the diocese, the school and Scott. Interestingly enough, we have heard from none of them.  Until one of these parties breaks their silence, if that is even allowed, we will never know.  And honestly, I'm okay with that.   I still like Scott, and I still like the school, but the diocese I have struggled with for the past two decades.
