What a shame... Can't say I have confidence KHSAA will replace this with something better, but its far superior to CoachT.com or the conference websites Cincinnati + the state of Ohio use.

I would find that hard to believe. I have read that about 30% of Division I athletes don't matriculate at another Division I school, but P4 bench players are like NBA bench players. They typically make a heck of a lot more money than their peers.

P4 Basketball gives out money like its candy. Not sure if there is a "State of the Union" CBB thread or if there would be interest on this site, but the numbers that KIDS (who haven't played or produced in D1) are asking for is out of control.

You may be surprised about how many players are fired (or scholarship not renewed) and are thus forced into the portal, and how many players look forward to the portal each spring because they don't like their coach/being held accountable, they don't like competing for minutes, etc. For the GOOD players, I think you are correct. But many college players are accustomed to taking the path of least resistance as they've had things taken care of (AAU fees, new shoes/gear, modified attendance or deadline policies in the classroom, etc) during their youth days. 2. Agree that a salary cap is a good thing, though even when the salary cap was $0 college coaches still paid top players 3. There has to be a way to create a non-employee collective bargaining agreement, unless only FB, MBB, some WBB are classified as employees. Higher education institutions are already understaffed and underfunded, if they are legally required to pay non-revenue sport athletes, those sports may cease to exist.

Hard to track whats real and not real in this saga...Awful decisions by Moore. Has anyone found validity to the claims: It was not just an affair, but he impregnated her and then paid for an abortion? Did he salary actually increase by 55% in Year 3? Did the mistress and wife actually follow each other on Instagram? One has to wonder how common this is or isn't....Would venture to say most Division I football staffs have women in support staff or on-campus recruiting roles...

Really sad if true. Gaither was always great to me hosting the summer Titans/Rockets shootouts....Hope he gets whatever he deserves.

The legend Greg Mason has made the surprising decision to step down as Head Coach. Citing health issues (3 surgeries last season, missed 10 games) and family/life balance as the primary reasons. He will remain in Danville, working at ______'_ ____ (can't reveal until he announces) but sounds like it will be a much better fit for him and family. Congrats Coach Mason on an unbelievable run!

Community 'waving back' to beloved NKY man after he became victim of second suspected drunk driving crash More than $100,000 has been raised online, and hundreds of people attended a Crestview Hills restaurant fundraiser on Wednesday CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — A Northern Kentucky man known for waving to drivers from his wheelchair is receiving overwhelming support from the community after being hit by a suspected drunk driver. Brad Fritz was struck on Turkeyfoot Road last Tuesday by a suspected drunk driver. Police charged James McGillicuddy with OVI and assault. McGillicuddy was initially out on a $10,000 bond, but it was raised to $250,000 on Tuesday. The incident marks the second time Fritz has been the victim of a crash involving a suspected impaired driver. When he was 15, Fritz was injured as a passenger in a car crash where a friend who had been drinking was behind the wheel. He’s made the incident his life’s work. Fritz speaks with local youth about the importance of driving sober. According to a Facebook post by Fritz’s brother, he was discharged from the ICU to a rehab center earlier this week, but the pain is still substantial. “The broken ribs and surgically repaired arm are the major drivers,” Fritz wrote. The community has responded with an outpouring of support for the man many know as "Champ." At Niceley’s Appliance Repair, over 100 people have visited to trace their hands on a piece of paper. It’s a symbol of waving back to Fritz, said owner Jeff Niceley. "We came up with the idea of people tracing hands and sending messages to him," Niceley said. "This is what we can do back for him, let him know that he means something to us." A card drop-off box is at the front desk during business hours. The box is moved to the front door overnight. The Erlanger Fire Department also showed their support with a special bouquet of cardboard hands, each with a personalized note. Its terrible because no recruit anywhere has ever heard of the United Athletic Conference. Will create challenges with scheduling as well, at least in MBB. Plus, they are the travel outlier in this league. For Low Majors those longer travel costs will add up quickly.

The biggest WBB Recruiting event in the US in Louisville, KY was cut short yesterday. Very conflicting information going around. Hundreds of people are claiming they heard shots fired. Reports say that there was an 'active aggressor' in the building. What we do know, is that the fire alarm was triggered (some reports say it was pulled, Expo Center claims there was a mechanical malfunction) and 1000's of people made a mad dash to the exit, inciting panic and a major traffic buildup at the Expo Center/Fairgrounds. My sources say that a man was arrested for allegedly making threats. No word on if he had a weapon or not. However, Louisville police claim there was no shooter and no gun. Sad situation all around, any way you look at it.

The father of one of Starks' teammates from a USA Basketball event is the coach at his prep school in FL. So that is the connection for that move. I believe Turners' recruitment has stalled a bit so he jumped the gun to commit to the AZ Prep school. His AAU season hasn't gone as planned either. Hope it works out well for the young man.

Crazy thing is this unprecedented conference realignment has been underway behind the scenes for about 6 months....It was leaked to Ross Dellenger at Yahoo Sports and the UAC (ASUN + WAC) was forced to make a press release earlier than planned. The move may make the least sense for EKU, who will probably be in the Sun Belt, SOCON, or Big South as those are much better fits.

"Update on Brad: Overall, today was a better day. When we arrived this morning they removed Brad's breathing tube. That's fantastic news! We were able to communicate and he was alert. It was pretty special. However, this means that they reduced the sedation. He was very uncomfortable and confused. The pain is much more noticeable and intense. It's gut wrenching to watch someone suffer like this. Brad has no recollection of what happened which is too be expected. The bigger issue is his short term memory. It felt like every 30 minutes he would ask where he was and why he was there. With all the trauma, it's tough to judge whether that will continue or fade with time. We pray his short term memory will return and this is not a sign of bigger issues. The staff continues to take X-rays of his chest on a regular basis to examine his collapsed lung and ensure he is not developing pneumonia. The chest tube is still in. They did suctioning on him to clear his throat in lungs - not a very fun process. His heart rate was up above normal levels but not too concerning at this point. Like everything else, they have to monitor it. He has more fractures in his face than we originally thought. Swelling throughout his entire body seemed to worsen. The most disheartening part of the day was his frustration. It's tough to rexplain to someone over and over again a traumatic event they have suffered. The emotions are flowing. The best part of today was explaining to him the support he has from the community! We were telling him how many "likes" and comments people were leaving on his update from yesterday. We also showed him how many views some of the artilcles on him had received. It truly brought that smile back to his face for a short time. It was awesome to see. It got to the point that every time we explained the accident, I would go back through all the Facebook post to ease the pain! My brother Donnie mentioned yesterday that Brad will love to read all this at some point and it could not be more true! Brad would always joke with my mom and say "Champs a pretty big deal." My mom said today, "I think he may be right". Please keep the prayers coming. Tomorrow is a new day. Our hope is that each day is better than the one before. Tomorrow I am going to create a page that is dedicated to his recovery. I started to do that tonight and realized I didn't know what I was doing. Want to make sure we get it right. The Ruthsatz family, including children and teenagers, have moved out of NKY. God bless all those who cornered this family into departing the area... Just because you thought the way Scott ran a program (winning two state titles, making it to four Final Fours, winning six region titles and 10 district titles, accumulating an astonishing 363-79 record (82%) over 13 season) made you/your HS buddies' kids work a little bit harder to accomplish something in basketball, or made them realize that there's more talent than the 65 or so 8th graders they graduated with in NKY [as they will learn in the workforce someday] doesn't give you the right to disrupt him and his son's HOF Induction or alter the upbringing of the younger siblings, who had nothing to do with the allegations made against their Father. Prayers to all who are the forces behind and individuals inside of this in this sad situation.

I just asked you a question, attempting to understand your long winded, rantful response. I am not putting words in your mouth. Thank you for admitting the bold; that was the answer to the questions was asking. I would encourage you to check your source on the Wermuth/Fortner/Diocese situation. You make a lot of strong claims and present them as fact, but when I go to ask the involved parties they don't add up to what you've said.

So in the SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big 10 - most players who get paid through NIL don't actually do commercials or advertisements that are tied to their market value. It has actually become more of a pay-for-play scheme, even though the NCAA refuses to admit it. Many Division I schools have started 'collectives,' which allow program suppporters/boosters/alums to facilitate money to student-athletes, usually in exchange for some sort of community service or community engagement via a social media post. It is true that sometimes these collectives do arrange for commercials or advertisements, but at the highest level of college basketball player the 13th man on a college team is oftentimes paid like the 13th man on an NBA team. This is just what an ACC Assistant Coach told me. It could absolutely be true that top OVC players are getting paid good money for advertisements and commercials, but I can tell you it is true that most P4 players, starter or not, get paid more than a top LM starter/top producer.
