  1. Nobody watches ESPN anymore. Too much agenda pushing. Give me sports.
  2. Saw something today on Twitter that since 2011-2012, Lebrons Finals results have been the same as Alabama Football's last game. That doesn't bode well for CLE if the trend continues.
  3. Big big question marks here. My gut says Warriors in 5 or more likely 6, but I wouldn't be shocked by the Cavs pulling it out in 7. Kyrie and Kevin are playing much better right now than they were at this time last year, KD has no finals experience and Steph has seemed to be absent these last 2 finals series. JR Smith and Korver will have to be playing their best ball all the time for Cleveland to win... One thing I do know, if the Cavs do win this series, then I will no longer have any doubt about who the GOAT is. If you can beat the last 3 MVPs I think that's a big factor.
  4. Prayers to you and everyone else whose been affected by it. My grandmother died one year ago today while suffering badly from this disease, but I can assure you it took her mind long before then. Her husband also suffered from it before his death in 2008, and we still have voicemails from him on intears about how badly it messed up his reality. I worry about the day that it comes to affect my parents generation or my own generation, and pray a cure/permanent treatment is found soon.
  5. I played college basketball at d3 Wittenberg University for 2 years. As a combination of a new coach and a freshman class of 13, I was cut from the team my junior year. After spending my junior year as a student assistant coach, presenting to the the coach a 17 slide presentation on why I think I have tangibles and intangibles as a player that would help the team, garnering support from my teammates, and being the only team member to attend EVERY offseason lift and open gym, I was denied by the head coach the opportunity to tryout again. I'll be a student assistant coach again this year because I support my teammates and love the game of basketball. Not a day goes by that I don't hope my coach calls me and says he'll give me another shot. I finally get it after hearing my parents for so many years telling me how lucky I was to be able to play, cause I miss the hell out of it every single day.
  6. My dad is staying at the same hotel as the BlueJays in NYC tonight...small world. He took a picture with Luke after the team bus arrived late.
  7. He can still make some good money. Shaq had his own brand and I recently read sold over a 120 million shoes at Walmart. NBA coaches pay absolutely no attention to Lavar whatsover. Lonzo will be drafted, and whoever is paying him 7 or 8 figures is going to quickly squash little Lavar out of the picture.
  8. I'll reveal my college once my career is officially over :thumb:
  9. I think this is a result of Sportscenter switching from a strictly reporting station to more of an entertainment product. They always have women reporting on men's sports. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I'd much rather hear a former player analyze a coaches subbing decisions than Doris Burke. They constantly bring up equality and racism topics. Jemele on SC6 blasted Geno Auriemma for "sexist comments" after he stated that there are more men's coaches in women's sports simply because there are more men who wish to be coaches. It stinks because they basically have a monopoly on a TON of actual sports topics (press conferences, post game interviews, some highlights etc.) but I have watched a lot more NBATV this year than ESPN for that reason.
  10. I coached Luke last summer. He's a bright kid with a great shooting career ahead of him. Expected from a player who plays for Mike Price for 7 seasons.
  11. Great D2 program Christian Brothers in Memphis. Congrats to Aiden and his family. He's a tough player on the court and plays much bigger than he is!
  12. Lots of Anti-Christian responses here. "I preach that all religions are delusional but I only attack Christianity." We, Catholics, who strive to live like Christ, believe that ALL people can get to heaven. There is sacramental baptism (with water), baptism of desire (explicit or implicit desire), or baptism by blood (martyrdom).
  13. Time heals all wounds. Praying for you and family.
  14. Awesome to see. Gotta play [some of] the best to become the best. Mick Cronin deserves credit.
  15. Had the opportunity to do a shooting workout with Kellen last summer. It was one of the few times I shot 500+ shots with just one rebounder. He's certaintly earned it to keep playing. Congrats to the family :thumb:
  16. Leonard is making a really good case for himself lately. People forget the impact Lebron has because he's been doing it for years...but little things like drawing help to give his teammates open shots, calling out screens seconds before they happen, having a photographic memory in terms of player moves. These are things that simply cannot be matched by anybody in today's league. Now, in 4-5 years, I could easily see Kawhi being considered the "next generation's Lebron," just as I consider Lebron to be my generation's Jordan.
  17. When does Lent end? I've heard numerous answers over the years.
  18. Two Shining Star teams in the 17u and 15u division have Kentucky players. 15u the only Kentucky kid is Scotty Draud (Beechwood). He's an 8th grader playing up and has really impressed me offensively. He has an aggressive mindset and can shoot the ball when needed. Lots of upside potential and I fully expect him to play and possibly start varsity next season. 17u has Aiden Ruthsatz (Covcath) and Mekell Burries (Newport). Aiden has been playing really well, getting past guys with his quickness and shooting/finishing exceptionally. I wish he played with that confidence when he wears blue and white. Mekell has been really impressive , especially considering its his second year playing the game. He stuggles sometimes with shot selection and staying engaged defensively, but his potential is thru the roof (ceiling). He has an excellent handle on the ball and is shooting the ball well from deep. 17u beat Ohio Phenoms in the gold division.
  19. Cavs aren't worried at all about seeding. They have a championship mentality and Lebron has been to 6 straight finals. They have been back and forth in terms of playing really really well and playing below average. I have little doubt they will make it back to the finals. Pop said he is not resting anybody the rest of the way. Of course always subject to change.
  20. Two things to point out that the news got wrong: 1) Kelly is 18 years old, not 20. 2) When police arrived at the Linden Center for Hope to confiscate her cell phone, she was NOT being treated for cancer as reported.
  21. Haven't been able to read this thread, but does anyone else besides me care that this (along with most of what our last 3 or more presidents have done) is directly ignoring the branches of government? Why are we going to war without asking Congress?
  22. Using an affidavit warrant, police obtained her cell phone records and saw that she was answering texts and calls pretending to be her caretakers or roommates. I believe that is how she must've gotten all the money. My guess is the affidavit must have been the caretaker or roommate. FWIW, obviously in this country we are innocent until proven guilty. But the (likely one of many) incriminating piece of evidence has been released to the press before a trial or punishment. Worth noting that I have known her and her family since I was a few years old, and I don't believe she is innocent or mentally stable at this time.
  23. Does anybody think this would turn Bamba away from UK? Correct me if I'm wrong but if Bam stays they may have to split PT. I guess that's Cal's specialty, but I think an 18 year old whose being told how good he is constantly would like to walk into a program where he could start and play 30+ right away.
