As a multi-sport senior 60+ years ago, I played very sparingly my senior year as 2 juniors were just better than me and didn’t play football.  It took all my arguments including my Mom to keep Dad from unhinging on the Coach.  He thought I was the best, he was wrong and I knew it.  Dads are rightfully biased and often “too, close to the billboard to be able to read it.”  Besides it is nearly impossible to build a program if every year the team is all seniors.

This is hard to do, but I'd encourage people to put yourselves in a Coach's shoes: In general, if your job status is determined by wins and losses, who are you going to trust more to help you win games: The guy who you've been training and teaching how to play since June? Or the guy who hasn't picked up a basketball since before the June Dead Period? Every kid has a choice to make and there's nothing wrong with playing multiple sports. There is something wrong with a kid who is not working on basketball for 6 months, and assumes he should be inserted into the lineup over those other dedicated kids, and then blame it on the staff when it doesn't happen. Life does not work that way.

I will wait for an answer to bolded question. 

If playing less-talented kids' just because their Dad's and Uncle's legacies are more important than the program winning, I am surprised Thelen took that job. Didn't make it out to any games this year, but I heard from some people he played a tighter rotation that Ruthsatz. 

Unfortunately those accusations are true. Prime example of this is Chandler Starks. My boss at my old job was somebody who was really close friends with the Stark family. Chandler wanted to play football at Cov Cath and basketball coaches there said no. Which is what ultimately led him to leaving Cov Cath and heading to Anderson after his junior year.

So what happens if Starks says I am playing football? I don't see Starks getting cut, benched or even losing playing time. Forget these coaches who put their own wants and goals above high school kids. It is a once in a lifetime chance to play high school sports. Let the kids play.

I agree. I’ll tell ya this, if you go across the river to MSJ or up the road to Thomas More. There are athletes on both of those college campuses that play more than one sport. 

The Ruthsatz family, including children and teenagers, have moved out of NKY.

Just because you thought the way Scott ran a program (winning two state titles, making it to four Final Fours, winning six region titles and 10 district titles, accumulating an astonishing 363-79 record (82%) over 13 season) made you/your HS buddies' kids work a little bit harder to accomplish something in basketball, or made them realize that there's more talent than the 65 or so 8th graders they graduated with in NKY [as they will learn in the workforce someday] doesn't give you the right to disrupt him and his son's HOF Induction or alter the upbringing of the younger siblings, who had nothing to do with the allegations made against their Father. Prayers to all who are the forces behind and individuals inside of this in this sad situation.
