How well do you know Scott? I know Scott well. And enjoy his company. And I recognize he is not the type to be very outspoken about such thing, and think he handled attending the games and supporting Nolan with class. But I also am surprised he has not told Nick to quiet down. He’s a successful coach, businessman, and you’d think he would recognize that the pony show on Facebook is doing more harm than good to the reputation of his son. I know he’s your friend, but it’s truth, regardless if people are saying it or not. 

Incoherent? You couldn't make out the meaning and intent behind his posts? I'm not sure who that says more about. I understand the intent behind all of his posts, and maybe incoherent was the improper choice of words to describe this, more so unnecessary. I have no problem with him sharing his thoughts or feelings, but the video clips, memes, and  emojis are childish way to get your point across. 

Laughable to think he was telling the truth? What did he say, specifically, that you deemed untruthful? You are taking everything Nick says as gospel, when in reality, he was not in the room for any of these meetings. He is either 1) hearing only the portion that Scott is telling him or only wants him to hear or 2) has lost sight of his original argument from the beginning. He originally blamed Tony and Bob. That fell on its face when the diocese agreed to have a meeting with him. Then he blamed the diocese, and now it’s all Jack Lenihan’s fault? Why are we to believe Nick as gospel, I get it, he’s your friend, but we aren’t supposed to believe Jack Lenihan for going to the diocese in the first place? 

Nick wanted to make a big splash and bring awareness to what he felt was an injustice to his family, to his father.  Hard to argue he didn't accomplish that, even if you disagree with his method. Did he entertain us on BGP and get a bunch of shares and comments on Facebook? Sure, but again, even his “splash” accomplished nothing. Scott is no longer employed by CovCath, he is and most likely never will be in the hall of fame, he never received an apology or statement from the diocese, and he is not going to get a public statement from Jack Lenihan either, possibly just a defamation lawsuit.

The people that were going to support Scott were going to support Scott, the people that were going to support CovCath/diocese were going to support CovCath/diocese, no post of Nick’s changed anyone’s mind on the matter, and if it did, no one of importance. That is all I’m saying when it comes to this accomplished nothing.

I appreciate his dedication, but at some point, this just becomes an axe-grinding campaign. I suspect there's even more to the story, and I doubt we will ever hear the Diocese's side. That being said, Nick has been working this for quite a while, and it will remain a story as long as he keeps putting stuff out there. I'm not sure how many are still listening at this point, or what his eventual end game is. 

I'm on the opposite side of most on this, which is interesting because I called Nick out early on for it, but the fact that he has stayed the course, actually gotten a couple of answers, and reported it for all to see makes me appreciate the effort.

Nick is a grown man. I'm not sure he's concerned with it. He left the area before the family has been cornered to.

Nick understands social media reach though, that is for sure. Having built multiple businesses online pretty successfully, if you didn't know.

How on earth, with virtus regulations and not a single complaint at the Diocese for 13 years, does 1 parent coming forward claiming that 7 years ago his son experienced something that hasn't been reported by 100+'s of other players in the program warrant a suspension? The suspension quickly led to the resignation. Which, now 12 months later, still has no end date in sight and haven't reached out to a single player (to my knowledge)?

Nick has a pretty wide reach in the grassroots basketball community in NKY and OH. There are certainly students who would have supported or enrolled at CovCath, or enrolled at other schools in Diocese of Covington.  To say that any of those families who changed their mind, simply because they read about a controversial resignation-turned-HOF Rescinding story (that has led the family moving out of the area), are "no one of importance," is pretty revealing.

He definitely brought attention to it.

I want to express my full support for Nick for calling out the cowardly actions that led to this heartbreaking situation. If this had been aimed at Nick he might have brushed it off, but when it targets family, especially a man who lives selflessly and walks in faith, it hits differently.

Coach Ruthsatz gave over a decade of service to Covington Catholic, becoming the school’s winningest coach by leading with integrity, discipline, and fairness. He played those who earned their spots not those backed by money or influence.

Yet a local dentist and his son have chosen to revive a 7-year-old grudge, using false accusations to smear Scott’s name and drive him out. That this is tolerated at a Catholic institution, where truth and humility should prevail, is  disturbing.

The message this sends? If you don’t give the powerful what they want, they’ll try to destroy you.

Why would any support these individuals? Why would anyone not support a son fighting for his father’s dignity? 

Those that abuse their power shouldn't get the last word.
