What is happening to our great sport?

What's happening is better players don't want to average 20 ppg at their school and win 10 games and not make the region tournament. They'd rather average less at another school and win 20-25 games and make a postseason run.

There has always been some transferring and moving around.  Some of it was above board and some not.  It may be that with so many players playing AAU they have more contact with other players and coaches than they did in my day.  Also, it may be that we know more about it now that there are bulletin boards and social media.

I have only seen Preston Hoskins a couple times so I'm not the best source but it seems he will definitely make a nice addition to the Tomcats. Should be a fun region.

He plays Adidas 3SSB with Taylen Kinney and his step dad, that is the heavy rumor.

Donavan Carney is unreal.  If he comes to Newport with Kinney, Yamil, Turner and Starks Newport will be the favorite to win a state championship and Rondon will be their only senior the rest of the team will be back in 2026.  Snapp will need a few bench pieces but they should be really really good.

Snapp is an elite coach, one of the top in the state. The combination of talent and coaching will be second to none.

I find it next to impossible that Athens McGillis is at CovCath in the fall.

Where do you think McGilis is going?  He is already at one of the best basketball programs in the state with a lot of talent coming back.  I am sure there is a 6’8”-6’10” kid out there somewhere who would love to play with the team that Cov Cath has coming back.  And really that’s all they need to be highly competitive again this season.  But if the Carney kid from Pittsburgh transfers to Newport then everyone in the 9th is playing for 2nd.
