  1. It's been a while since I read the article, but a study came out in which they looked at a couple of D1 programs and put sensors on their helmets to see if they could get an idea of what was going on. It turned out that it wasn't the prototypical massive hit, like when a defensive back gets a big run and uses his head as a weapon, that caused the most damage. It was more due to the linemen banging their heads into each other on every play. The collisions weren't as big, but there were a lot more of them and that added up over time.
  2. Is the varsity schedule similar?
  3. Thanks. What school is that?
  4. Since they play on Fridays how do they schedule those days during the week?
  5. What are teams doing now when it comes to in season strength training? Are your teams lifting and if so, what kind of training are they doing?
  6. Did anyone else think that Highlands looked significantly faster than Boyle? That shouldn't be the case in two teams ranked that highly.
  7. Was it a concussion? It looked like helmet-to-helmet contact on the video.
  8. I had thought that by now the coaching staff would have figured out the best rotations. It's so easy to see that when Clark and the younger players get into the game, things start to click. That's backed up by the stats as well. In the Hungary game, the starters/veterans were up 9 when Clark, Bueckers, and another younger player came in at 4:07 (maybe Reese?). They ran it to 47-18 when she pulled Clark at 6:20. They had outscored Hungary 29-9, which is way better than the starters had done.
  9. The whole story is that the Highlands player did check the Boyle PG, but it wouldn't automatically have been ruled a flagrant foul. Driver escalated the situation, and then the Boyle bench joined in, which earned them suspensions.
  10. There's another way of looking at it. You can throw in an odd play or formation early in the season and force teams to prep for it even if you never use it again. Or, you could always run the same play over and over off of that set but have an alternate play that you save until you need it in a playoff game. I've always thought that every running back on the team needs to practice passing the ball. Let the ones who get pretty good at it try it in a game, especially early in the season. Then, your opponents will have to spend time getting ready to defend it whether you choose to use it or not.
  11. Yes, the first one was for something on the Lex Cath sideline and the second had something to do with his mouthpiece. That's the extent of what information has been made available. A bit light on the details.
  12. He was ejected from a basketball game (Highlands, I think) and had to sit out the next one.
  13. That might hurt his chances in the Mr. Football race.
  14. According to the announcers on the live stream, Driver was ejected from the game in the second quarter for his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
  15. He can play. He should help them.
  16. Now that Guy Turner has signed with Davidson for football, do any of the Somerset folks know whether he'll go on to college in January, as so many of them do these days, or play basketball?
  17. I’ve not heard a lot about Hager lately from the Boyle fans. Is his knee injury a concern? What’s going on with him?
  18. I have a few questions on the rules in KY regarding high school athletes and NIL money. Is it legal for a high school athlete to be paid by local companies for the use of their name, image, and likeness (the definition of NIL.....) What about taking a payment from a college while they are still in high school? I'm not making accusations or insinuations against or about anyone. I'm just trying to understand the rules. A couple of years ago, the hotshot quarterback from California who went to UT supposedly received a significant payment while still in high school. I'd like to know if that can happen here in KY.
  19. Good luck trying to watch the games on ballertv. My service has been terrible. You may have better luck. The broadcasts don't always start on time, and they don't always run for the entire game. For example, the game I wanted to watch last night only had 13 minutes of video, and another one started the video feed when the score was already 18-10.
  20. Is anyone else having trouble with ballertv? Some of the games are too blurry to watch and they often only have segments of the game or start halfway through the first half? One of the games I wanted to watch only had 13 minutes of video and on another one the score was 18-10 by the time the broadcast started.
  21. It appears to be on BallerTV: https://www.ballertv.com/events/kabc-bluegrass-summer-shootout-2026/overview
  22. I just saw the box score for the second game. Indiana played 11 players and all of them played ten minutes plus. Kentucky had two players at less than 3:00, Ateny and Jung. I don’t know anything about Jung but Ateny can play. He had 18 and 10 against Salsman’s Lexington Catholic team during the season so he’s seen him in person. Owens and McGillis were no shows for the second game. I have no idea as to why but could it be because of playing time?
  23. If the players on the team are not capable, then the selection process needs to be examined. Is Kentucky high school basketball so weak that the most prestigious all-star team doesn't have quality players from top to bottom? Since when does "playing to win" become synonymous with having a short bench? And, why does having fun and rewarding the players mean they aren't playing to win? Coach Salsman only saw them for a limited number of times, so he has no idea which combinations work well together. They didn't come close to winning, so apparently his strategy didn't work. Maybe the guys on the bench would have played better defense, rebounded, and taken better shots?
  24. My understanding is that the purpose of an All-Star game is to have fun and reward players for great seasons. Both last night and tonight, Coach Salsman chose to play the same players for almost the entire game, and other players barely saw the floor. Maybe I'm missing something, and if so, please explain it to me.
