I’ve heard they do this. I DO NOT KNOW IF ITS TRUE. While most teams punt in towards goal line. Highlands just punts into other teams warm up. IMO it should be an unsportsmanlike penalty so things don’t get out of hand before the game starts.

It is true, and agreed.

Just a thought, but in watching that video above, it looks like they kick an extra point right before, then just turn around and run punt.  The kid is punting it from the back line of the end zone.  S

So Highlands intentionally punts the ball into the opponents side on the field before they run up to the 50 and towards their sideline, before every game? In the video posted the officials are on the field, I guess they don't pay attention to it. If it was every single game wouldn't something have been done by now. HAs this always been the case , only since the new coaches came in, or just this year? Very petty, but very interesting as it has some fired up. I'd like to know the answer on this as far as a penalty could be assessed pre-game on the team that does this.

This has to be relatively recent.  For years the Bird’s closed pregame with a long pass to the end zone.

As mentioned as long as the other team is not in the middle of the field still doing their pregame, then it’s perfectly fine. Like in the video CovCath was basically off the field on their sideline when they punted it towards midfield. That was not the case last week, when Cooper was still doing their normal pregame and was running through plays when Highlands punted into them and had their whole team runs towards them. Which I know you mentioned the officials, the officials last week ran straight to midfield as soon as they saw Highlands punt it, because they knew there was potential for trouble as soon as Highlands did it. While there was no flag thrown, the officials didn’t seem to happy with Highlands for doing it, because of the unneeded type of conflict it can cause before a game even starts and having to separate the two teams after that.

It truly makes no sense for why Highlands does that.

So basically just as easy to flip that. Punt towards end zone first, and then kick extra point. Even in that video above the kick ended up right around the 50 after rolling. Which if CovCath was still on the field, around the 50 at that time, that still leads to possible unneeded conflict during pregame. Point is if you punt towards your own end zone, then zero worry about getting ahold of one or bouncing to or through the 50 with the other team standing there warming up. Which that is pretty easy to know that could happen, so yeah Highlands obviously does it for a reason and will just leave it at that. As someone else just said the birds are going to do what the birds are going to do.

I heard the Highlands managers sneak a Helium filled Ball in just before Highlands Punts to end their Pregame each week. No one else knows. Shhhh! LOL!

If the Highlands punter is kicking the Ball from the back of the End Zone and is getting it across the 50 yard line on the Fly, then someone might be punting on Sunday's someday. I highly doubt he gets that Juice every time. If he does then he is one of the top Punters in the Country. Thinking this was not something that was intentional.

Then I guess the Birds are gonna get what the Birds are gonna get ?‍♂️

I've definitely heard they do this and also kind of surprised a ref hasn't said anything or at least given a warning.  I just don't see any reason for a team like Highlands to do this, kind of surprises me.

Alright, let's get back to discussing the game coming up on Friday, folks.

Does anyone from the Dixie camp have any info on whether or not they will be livestreaming the game?

Here is the process as I have seen it the last few years. Extra point is kicked. Punt team punts it from the very back of endzone. They have a punt returner at about their own 40. He catches it, the team surrounds him they jump up and down a bit then go to the locker room to put their pads on. I have never seen one go past their own 40. Class must have really got into one to cross mid field. On to Dixie!!

From Evan Dennison article on linknky.com:

Maybe it was their pregame ritual. Maybe it was a message they were trying to send.

When Highlands did their usual punt the ball and the whole team chase after it in warmups, Carson Class’ punt happened to go over to Cooper’s side of the 50. The Jaguars were right there.

Some may have thought of it as a sign of disrepect, but Highlands made Friday night’s game with the Jaguars personal and left Union with a 58-51 victory.

“We do that before every game. Carson actually had a really good punt and the ball got to over midfield and into their huddle,” Bluebirds quarterback Brody Benke said. “They got mad, we started talking and it was definitely personal with all the chatter that happened through the week.”
