I would almost always say brown gravy...except with country fried steak and mashed potatoes, and in that case you've GOTTA have white pepper cream gravy.

bugatti
Seldom do I use gravy with potatoes. Potatoes mashed make for the perfect binder with almost any protein and/or vegetable. But I am usually on board with a brown gravy.
rjs4470
I’m one of the few people in this world that doesn’t like mashed potatoes. I can eat spuds baked, fried, scalloped or pretty much any other way. But I can’t choke mashed potatoes down. It probably has something to do with the texture, but they are a hard no for me, regardless of the color gravy. Which coincidently, I really don’t like either. theguru
For the record, I rarely add gravy to mashed taters. I normally like to mix them with corn, other veggies, a hint of butter, and whatever else is on my plate.
Beechwoodfan
I cannot believe this is a question. Brown gravy is how mothers/grandmothers have done mashed potatoes since the first Thanksgiving.
