New Albany (IN) at East Central (IN) scrimmage. Looks like decent amount of fans in stands. I believe Indiana allowing 50% capacity with distancing.

By every virus measurement I have looked at, Indiana is SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than Kentucky. This is the point I have made several times here on BGP. Kentucky is one of the the best states in the US in managing the virus. Using the virus measurements to make the playing decisions, if Kentucky can't play football then no one should be playing. Performing well on all of the restrictions has to be rewarded at some point. Time for Kentucky to get some positive reinforcement for what has been accomplished in controlling this virus. Time to play football.

We've had 63 kids working out since June 15. Of those 63, we have had ZERO cases of Covid. 

I hear similar stories from other coaches. Most of the time, if they do have a Covid case, it comes from an outside source... not a football workout. 

We work out in the morning. The first two groups are 7 am. Last two groups are 9 am.  It's been  good for our kids. They have something to do. They are with their teammates and coaches. 

We can enforce compliance and guidelines with 14-18 year old males more effectively than most any other place they could be.

I'm starting to think that having football, keeping those kids occupied, may actually contribute to holding Covid case numbers down.  I sure hope so.

Absolutely! If we had the numbers in the FL that KY we’d be having parades. The problem I see in KY is that certain people in charge are always doom and gloom. Something I saw on social media really hit home, canceling football is going to stop the virus.

So what do we really believe will happen on the 20th? Will we move on as planned which I hope and I think if that happens we’re going to play unless something really bad happens or will they postpone again? Or worst of all cancel or supposedly move to spring I’m not buying people doing that by the way I feel like the groups saying they are moving to spring know that is basically canceling the season.

I could see them push back season a few weeks but I think it’s anybody’s guess what will happen since they are not a independent body. June 18th JCPS meeting may have impact also. If JCPS doesn’t play than JCPS AD on KHSAA board would most likely vote no or abstain. Going to be a lot of eyeballs watching that meeting.

At some point they need to stop pushing things back, and give it a go. Hopefully on the 20th they decide to continue with the plan they already have in place. 
 

With in person school being delayed. That honestly should be looked at as a good thing for sports. It would allow three weeks of football games, to truly see how things were going. Before you start in person classes, and having players mixed with students. 
 

So if there is going to be a season. Then it really is best to continue with the current plan and start on the 11th. With not having in person classes, it creates a mini like bubble actually within the team for the first three weeks.

Hopefully they realize that if they want to have a season. Then it is actually safer to go ahead and start still on the 11th. It would allow three weeks of games, to see how it is going, before you start mixing players and students together in a class.

I see another delay coming at the least. Just going by the daily briefings last week and Big10/PAC12 being applauded for their actions. Tuesday will be another key day with JCPS vote.

Don't see the DOE risking in-person classes for the sake of sports either. Their goal is to put kids back in class. Just my 2.

 

So what should the KHSAA look at to make this decision? What is happening in California or Florida or even neighboring Ohio doesn't matter. Look at Kentucky. What is happening here? Teams have been working out in Kentucky for two months. How many positive tests have occured? That is all that matters. The KHSAA has been in a two month test. What are the results? If cases are minimal, then why wouldn't you play? Those are the most important numbers by far. Use your own numbers from your own in state "bubble". There is your answer IMO.

Golf is carrying on as normal, as is non-sanctioned tourneys for all sports. It’s the Wild Wild West right now, and another delay keep the non-sanctioned events going. 

in-Person school won’t happen September 28th for the entire state either. If this is about virus control, then we are doing better than any state bordering us who is continuing to move forward. Just my 2.

Who delayed in person classes until September28th? Here in Hardin County, county, city and private schools all decided to proceed with original plans for in person classes either this week or next week.
