I don't believe there is a chance we can start a season and finish in the Fall based on the current climate, do you?  If one case shuts down professional sports, then the current Fall plan is destined to fail.  Then what?  Most likely another cancelled season of sports.  Seems like a terrible plan to me.

I don't accept any "new norms."

We definitely can start and finish anything we want to start and finish and one case shouldn't shut down anything. 

Furthermore, if one case is going to shut down a school or a sport then we have no business period going back to school and sports but when we go down that road we have to remember that Influenza is far more deadly to children and if that is the draconian stance we are going to take on safety then in-person school should never happen again.

I agree that we should be able to have folks sign waivers and keep it moving. I honestly don't know why it's not that simple, but I'm certainly no lawyer.

Because as a rule of thumb waivers typically are not worth the paper they are written on. 

Or put another way, the waiver idea is a nice thought but not the solution here.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Same goes with most contracts and whatnot. If you have a good enough lawyer, none of that matters.

I am not taking a stance on contracts but generally speaking waivers are useless.

I agree with your stance on the obvious over-reaction. I'd let my kids play today without any concern, but refusing to accept the "new norms" doesn't mean they don't exist. KYHSAA is dealing with reality.

Where there is regulation "new norms" exist and the quickest way to get rid of them is for everyone to fight back but like many things in life COVID has us divided on many fronts and therefore conquered for the time being.

I agree with you both on the waivers.  I'm just saying that it's been part of the process to play baseball and basketball.  If it needs to be part of the process to play football, then I'll sign it for football too.

Isn't there already some sort of waiver included in the KHSAA physical form?  If you look at it, there is a section on acknowledgement of risk and a liability waiver that has to be signed prior to participation in High School sports. I would think this would cover everything that could happen in the course of participating in sports, even Covid, unless you could prove something ocurred due to negligence or not following the safety guidelines that are in place.
