I never saw Scott Co this year, when MTGL predicted a double digit victory for CCH, felt comfortable if you were a Colonel fan. MTGL comments are usually sensible and valid, he was spot on this outcome.

After seeing all the games this week, I truly believe the state finals were played in the 9th region semis between CCH and Cooper. The 9th has had a heck of a run the last 5 years. 3 different teams to reach the Semis 2 Championships and 1 Runner Up.

You obviously did not watch the CovCath/Fern Creek game. Fern Creek had a better team that Cooper. Nothing against Cooper, CovCath just playing great right now. If they had played against Cooper the way they did today CovCath wins by 25 points.

Rivalry like that one is almost always going to be close and Cooper is very good this year as well with Kunkel being outstanding as is CJ. Everyone was saying that the Scott County vs Trinity game was for the State Championship, but the Friday night matchup between CovCath and Fern Creek was the toughest for CovCath on their way. CJ just was the difference in this one as he could not be slowed down like he was in their December game that Fern Creek won by the same margin that CovCath won this week...by 8.

Ruthsatz pick ups his 200th win at CovCath. Nice way to get it!

 

Does he get a 201st? He seems like the perfect coach for a small college program.

CovCath is the third school to win both the boys’ basketball championship and a football championship in the same school year, all over the last seven years. Trinity and Bowling Green are the other two schools.

They wouldn’t because of Cooper D. CCH and Cooper are the best two defensive teams in the state. You never give Cooper any credit.

So I guess your are cool with people say Scott County played it's worst game of the year then. Rather than Covcath being the reason for it. Just like Covcath is the reason Scott County played bad. Cooper is the reason why it's games against Covcath are so close. Cooper doesn't allow Covcath to play the way it likes to play.

Back to the game. I thought Scott County was hesitant to attack in the paint. Settled for 3's. Made some, but not nearly enough.

This is very true, but the stretch that Holmes had, all by itself, from 2006-2009, I believe, amplifies even further the quality of basketball being played in northern Kentucky lately ... Holmes had a appearances in the semis, 2 straight finals and a state championship over 4 years ... that's the 9th getting to the finals a lot, and winning 3 of the last 10.

 

And not to hijack the thread, this year's CovCath squad was easily the best of them all IMO. You've got to have the '18 Colonels on a very short list of the best teams ever in NKY.
