Whoa Nellie...had to do that in honor of the late Keith Jackson. There are exceptions to that rule about replacing one grade. If you qualify under certain parameters you can replace three grades. I have no idea Jay's situation and whether he would qualify under the exceptions or if he even needs to replace 3 grades or not. But I do know there are conditions where you can replace 3 grades if you qualify. You also can prep for the ACT test and with the sliding scale a really high score on the test covers a lot of ground with your GPA. You may know his situation better than I do, but he might be able to replace 3 grades and not just 1.

Aspire did not have a post-graduate team or program this year so this must be a new development for them to add one.

Rivalry like that one is almost always going to be close and Cooper is very good this year as well with Kunkel being outstanding as is CJ. Everyone was saying that the Scott County vs Trinity game was for the State Championship, but the Friday night matchup between CovCath and Fern Creek was the toughest for CovCath on their way. CJ just was the difference in this one as he could not be slowed down like he was in their December game that Fern Creek won by the same margin that CovCath won this week...by 8.

Covington Catholic had a dominating run this year and CJ was the dominating player behind it. No question he has put his team on his back.

That would not be good optics for either. It may be completely within the rules of KHSAA, but it would not pass anyone's look test of transfers made up of a move that is non basketball related.

Covington Cath beat Fern Creek last night, but they each have a win against each other and I do think FC matches up well against CC. The Tigers are not that far back from any of those other 3 being mentioned. Aside for that stretch run in the 2nd Q last night which resulted in a 14 point halftime lead, the rest of the way was a battle (an ugly one, but pretty evenly matched). The difference in their December match-up and Friday night was CJ Frederick. He was outstanding. He is a great player, but he was shooting lights out and without that effort the game could have been much different. It was a good defensive game aside from not being able to stop CJ. Plus the December game the refs let them play and last night the refs were horrible calling way too many touch fouls. They were bad in both directions, but in particular Fern Creek had so many baffling calls against them. I just think that Fern Creek/Covington Catholic are not that far apart as some seem to be making it out. I would bet the staff at Covington Catholic was glad to see the clock ran out without more time left to play.

It has been a bit of a roller coaster season for the Tigers of Fern Creek this season. Fern Creek was the Pre-Season 6th region favorite and as the Christmas tourneys came around it looked like Fern Creek was a force to be reckoned with even beyond the 6th. It was during the prestigious King of the Bluegrass in December that Fern Creek defeated both Covington Catholic and Trinity on back to back nights sending notice around the Bluegrass that they had the talent to compete with anyone. Then came 2018 and in January they lost to Doss during the Louisville Invitational Tournament which was the first time they have been beaten in two seasons by another program in the 6th. After finishing 35-3 and earning their first ever trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2016/2017, the 2017/2018 version of the Tigers did not share the same dominance. After a loss to St. Xavier on February 6 the Tigers dropped to a 19-6 record. However, they won their last two regular season games before running off 5 in a row in post season. The Tigers now have regained some of their early season form accomplishing a 26-6 record heading into the State Tournament. They have a very impressive 31-1 record against other 6th region programs over the last two seasons. The 6th is very competitive with really good athletes who compete night in and night out. Few 6th region teams have ever had the success over a two year span as the Tigers have these past two seasons. The loss to a very good Doss team is the only blemish on an otherwise perfect run in consecutive seasons. Leading the Tigers the past two seasons have been a great backcourt in PG Anthony Wales and Guard Ahmad Price. There is not much to be said about these two except that together they have started since they arrived at the Fern Creek as freshman and have been part of 98 victories in that span. Wales, a Samford signee, and Price who is reclassifying into the 2019 recruiting class can best be described as winners. They average 15 & 16 PPG respectively and are joined in double figures by power forward, Clint Wickliffe who averages 12 PPG. Wickliffe and Price are the team's leading rebounders. Wales is the leading steals and assist man for the Tigers. Joining these three in the starting lineup is a combination of Tony Rogers, AJ Thomas, and Jalin Howard. All are seniors and another senior, Jordan Coleman, also has been seeing extensive action during the Tigers post-season run. The Tigers play Boyd County in the opening round and the outcome depends on which Tigers team arrives at Rupp. If it is the team that played in the KOB and won that championship it should be a large margin. If it is the Tiger team in January or February it could go either way. A rematch with Covington Catholic likely awaits if Fern Creek advances from the first round. That will be a great game to see if the Tigers can bring back the effort and execution from their earlier game.

Fern Creek becomes the 4th team in a row from the 6th region to go back to back as Regional Champions joining Doss, PRP, and before that Bullitt East. It was not easy beating District rival Jeffersontown for the third time this season. Fern Creek never found their normal flow with Ahmad Price in early foul trouble forcing him to sit as he picked up his third before halftime. Anthony Wales picked up the slack and had a team high 17 for the Tigers. Clint Wickliffe had 12 with 7 rebounds. Price still finished with 6 rebounds and 8 points. Junior Chris Trigg was the only Charger in double figures with 14.

PRP beat Jeffersontown by 19 very early in the year. Jeffersontown played a very tough schedule and just kept getting better even when losing games. They were below .500 in 6th region play and 17-13 overall after tonight. PRP had beaten Butler in round 1 and was surely a favorite.

Great basketball game with 2 very tough teams that played their third game this season after splitting the first two. Ahmad Price was huge tonight with 19 points and 6 or 7 rebounds. Anthony Wales and Cliff Wickliffe had 11 each with Tony Rogers the 4th Tiger in double figures with 10. Stephon Franklin ended an outstanding career at Doss and had a great 2nd half keeping his team close as he finished with 15.

Coach Rich Duncan in his 1st year as Head Coach in Jefferson County beats the legend of the 6th, Coach Dale Mabrey, to get to the final game with a ticket to Rupp waiting to be punched. It will be an all 24th District Championship as they tip it off against Fern Creek who won the District Championship over JTown 54-42 on February 23rd. Major props to Coach Duncan, it looks like a lot of schools have passed on a good one as he had been waiting for his chance for a while.

Very true, the Doss v. Fern Creek winner has a fighter's chance, but that 9th region 2nd round game is a tough one for either. PRP can come out of the 6th too and be very competitive. If Jeffersontown upsets everyone, Coach Duncan will be a hot commodity. He should be one already, great season to be in the regional semi finals.

Was told the undefeated run for Fern Creek's senior class goes back farther. They were also unbeaten during their sophomore season. Last loss was to Waggener their freshmen season. Pretty impressive for a 6th or 7th region program to have multiple consecutive seasons without a home loss. I am sure there are others, I wonder what the longest run is in recent past.

No running clock, but the Fern Creek bench got emptied and everyone had plenty of time. Fern Creek had 10 seniors so it was nice to see all the seniors get to finish out a 2 year run without any home court loss. Price had 22, Wales 21, and Rogers 12 in the win. Doss v Fern Creek on Saturday will be one of the best semi final games in any region joining the Cooper v Cov Cath battle.

Hats off to Fairdale, great coaching job by the 6th region coach of the year. Became a serious contender.

Dating back to 2011, there has been repeat 6th region champions in consecutive years by three different programs: Bullitt East (2011 & 2012), Pleasure Ridge Park (2013 & 2014) and Doss (2015 & 2016). Last year Fern Creek started their opportunity to continue that repeat streak by winning the 6th region in 2017. At least 4 other teams have a good shot to stop Fern Creek from being the fourth in line of that streak of repeat championships in the 6th. That list begins with Doss, Butler, PRP, and Fairdale but Fern Creek has their eyes set on continuing the trend. Jeffersontown is a long shot while Moore and Bullitt Central really have no chance to advance. The Sixth Region's Top 3 (Doss, Fern Creek, and Butler) have been slightly ahead of the rest for most of the season, but Fairdale & PRP are both very capable of winning three in a row. However, two of these five will be missing after the first round as PRP hosts Butler and Doss hosts Fairdale. First round games are being played at the higher seeded teams on Tuesday, with the semi-finals Saturday night at Valley and the finals on Tuesday at Valley. First Round Games Fairdale at Doss Prior to the LIT these two team played at Doss where the game was won easily by the Dragons 71-54. This time it is expected to be much closer as Fairdale is 13-3 since the LIT in early January. Doss is 7-1 since that same time and is the more veteran team with post season experience. On the Dragon's home court the likely result should be another win, but this time it will be much closer. Moore at Fern Creek Within this past month these teams have played and it was not remotely close as the Tigers beat Moore by 49 points. This game may not be a 50 point margin, but the chances of Moore making a game of it is not very likely. Fern Creek moves on to play either Doss or Fairdale in a rout. Jeffersontown at Bullitt Central The story here is that in his 1st year as Jeffersontown's head coach, Rich Duncan is likely going to take his team to Valley to play in the semifinals which few would have predicted at the beginning of the season. Bullitt Central has a home game, but the competition levels of these two teams schedules make Jeffersontown a heavy favorite as they are battle tested. Butler at Pleasure Ridge Park Besides the Doss/Fairdale game, this is the most competitive first round game as these teams are bitter rivals who played on February 2 at PRP where Butler won by a single point, 50-49. Since that time PRP is 7-1 with only a 6 point loss to Doss the rest of the way. Butler is 27-3 and has been very good at winning close games. Even on the road the Bears might be a slight favorite, but this is really a toss up game that could go either way. Semi-Finals Doss v. Fern Creek Fern Creek won round 1 in December with a 15 point home win. Doss won round 2 in their LIT matchup by 6 in a game played at Manual. These two teams played in the 6th region final last year that was a battle to the end which Fern Creek won to gain their fist state tournament bid. This game will have a final atmosphere and will be a battle to the final buzzer. It is really a toss up that either team could win and nobody would be surprised. Jeffersontown v. Butler After the Butler/PRP difficult matchup in round 1, the semifinal game versus Jeffersontown should be a little easier, but don't count on it. These two teams played not long ago at Butler and the Bears only came away with a 2 point win that could have went the other way. Still Butler should win and if PRP beats Butler in game 1, expect them to also beat Jeffersontown. Championship Game Doss or Fern Creek v. Butler (PRP- Dark Horse) The match-up everyone has been anticipating and wanting to see is two of these three teams going against each other. Since Doss and Fern Creek must play in the semifinals, the winner of that game will have earned the right to face Butler in the championship. These are the three best teams in the region, and two of these three will be playing to see who goes to Rupp. With that said, PRP has regrouped and would be the dark horse to move by the three favorites should they beat Butler in round 1 which is a real possibility.

The funny thing about the 6th region is you really have about 3 Co-Favorites and two other teams not far behind because the region is so deep and balanced. Take your pick between Doss, Fern Creek, or Butler and throw in a very good Fairdale team and a hot PRP team that beat Fairdale to win that district who are not very far behind. All five have been ranked in the Top 20 of various polls throughout the season. Butler plays PRP play in the first round as does Doss and Fairdale play each other. The Doss vs Fairdale winner likely plays Fern Creek in the semifinals. I guess you could say all of those favorites have a tough road. Whoever comes out and heads to Rupp will have had a tough road to get there.

Tuesday (at district champions) Top Half Fairdale (21-10) at Doss (23-6), 7PM Moore (7-21) at Fern Creek (23-6), 7PM Bottom Half Jeffersontown (15-13) at Bullitt Central (20-12), 7PM Butler (27-3) at Pleasure Ridge Park (20-10), 7PM Saturday (at Valley) - Semifinals, 6:30 and 8 Tuesday, March 6 (at Valley) - Final, 7 Not sure there is any great draw position here. There are five teams that have a solid chance to go to Rupp and Jeffersontown could be the 6th as a darkhorse. The 23rd district teams just are not going to be a threat. Butler & PRP need to face each other in game 1, but should have an easy path to the final for the winner. Doss and Fern Creek will be a tough semifinal provided Doss gets by a dangerous Fairdale team.

The final week did not produce any changes in the Top 4 and they likely will all advance to the Regional Tournament barring any first round upset in district. Butler, Fairdale, and Fern Creek all received 1st seeds in their district tournament allowing them to meet #4 seeds in the 1st round. Getting to the District Championship is almost as important if not more than winning it as both teams advance to the Regional tournament. After the final rankings is a brief preview with predictions of who makes the Regional Tournament in 2018. FINAL RANKINGS 1. Butler (26-2): Butler ends the regular season as the #1 ranked 6th region team after being ranked #4 in the Pre-Season ranking. Only losses to Trinity and DeSales prevented an undefeated season. Butler needed to replace their 3 top scorers from last season and they did so by committee. Coach Goodin plays 10+ players on a regular basis and the entire team has bought into a team brand of basketball this season. What is most impressive is the Bears have won 9 games this season by 5 points or less. They expect to win and that is a good trait come tournament time when games get inevitably close as you advance. 2. Doss (21-6): The Dragons were picked third in the Pre-Season ranking and come in as the #2 team as the season ends. The big question mark leading into the season was whether the new Coach from Henderson County, Coach Stone, and the player he brought with him from Henderson County, Taye Calloway, would be able to bond with the returning Doss players. Both have came in and in quick order made positive impacts. 3. Fern Creek (21-6): Fern Creek was the top pick in the Pre-Season ranking but they end the year as the #3 choice. Upon returning four starters from last year's 35-3 team the Tigers were the safe pick to be at the top. After winning the KOB the Tigers were 10-1 and seemed to validate their high expectations. However, in 2018 they are only 9-3 and suffered their first loss in the 6th region in 2 seasons when they lost to Doss during the LIT. 4. Fairdale (20-9): Fairdale went from being picked 7th in Pre-Season to a 4th ranking spot in this final listing. The turn around from 13-17 last season to 20-9 this season is remarkable. Fairdale did it with offense and a team that shoots as well as the Bulldogs can be dangerous if they heat up in the post season. 5. Pleasure Ridge Park (18-10): The Panthers were picked to come in right behind Fern Creek as the #2 early favorite, but they had to work toward the end of the season to rise back to the 5th spot this week. PRP finished 5-2 over their last 7 games and the two losses were to Butler by 1 & Doss by 6 so they are not far behind the leaders. 6. Iroquois (19-10): The Raiders made a huge jump from a Pre-Season #12 rank to a Top 6 position in the final rankings. They have won 6 in a row and 8 of their last 9 games. Coach Morrow has done an excellent job and in the last week beat Valley to place in front of the Vikings in this week's listings. 7. Valley (18-10): Valley had a Pre-Season rank of #5 and ends the season dropping just a bit to the #7 spot. Valley has lost 3 of their last 5 and two in a row. However those losses were to teams ranked in front of them such as Fairdale by 2, Iroquois by 4, and Doss by 6. Valley's Curt Lewis was voted as the finalist from the 6th Region for Mr. Basketball by the KABC membership. 8. DeSales (14-14): DeSales was picked to come in 6th and ends up in the 8th position this final week of rankings. This team had some major swings over the season beating Butler, but also losing to Western. 9. Bullitt East (15-15): Bullitt East was picked 9th in the Pre-Season rank and that is exactly where they come in to end the regular season. After winning 4 in a row, they lost their last 3 of the season. 10. Jeffersontown (14-12): Jeffersontown after winning 4 in a row lost their last four games but to tough competition- Bullitt East, Iroquois, Doss, and Butler. They only lost to Butler by 2. After being predicted to come in 10th, that is exactly where they finish. 11. North Bullitt (13-15): Pre-Season pick of 15 was a bit low as they come in 11th. 12. Southern (11-13): Pre-Season had the Trojans at 14, but they end at the #12 spot. 13. Holy Cross (15-12): Entered the Pre-Season as the #8 team and is finishing at the #13 ranking spot. 14. Moore (6-20): Entered Pre-Season at #13 and now come in at #14. 15. Western (4-21): Entered Pre-Season at #11 and now come in at #15. 16. Whitefield Academy (14-13): Picked to come in 19th was not giving Whitefield Academy enough credit. They end at #16 and ahead of Bullitt Central who they beat in the last week of the season. 17. Bullitt Central (17-12): Picked to come in 16th, they finish at #17. 18. Beth Haven (6-20): Beth Haven finishes 18th after being picked to come in at #17 in Pre-Season. 19. Evangel Christian (3-20): Was picked 18th in Pre-Season, but comes in the last spot. DISTRICT PREVIEWS 21st District- Held at Valley. Holy Cross vs. Beth Haven winner plays Fairdale on 2/20 & Valley vs PRP on 2/21. Championship is @ 8 PM on 2/23. Prediction- Valley vs. Fairdale in Championship with Valley winning on their home court. 22nd District- Held at Doss. Iroquois vs Western winner plays Butler on 2/21 & Doss vs. DeSales also on 2/21. Championship is @ 7:30 on 2/23. Prediction- Doss vs. Butler in Championship with Doss winning on their home court. 23rd District- Held at Southern. Evangel Christian vs Bullitt Central winner plays Southern on 2/21 & North Bullitt vs. Moore also on 2/21. Championship is @ 6 PM on 2/23. Prediction- Southern vs. Moore in Championship with Southern winning on their home court. 24th District- Held at Fern Creek. Whitefield Academy vs Fern Creek & Bullitt East vs. Jeffersontown on 2/21. Championship is @ 7:00 on 2/23. Prediction- Bullitt East vs. Fern Creek in Championship with Fern Creek winning on their home court. The Top 10 to watch in the post season is tough to choose from in the very deep 6th region. So many top players are very close, but these top ten will be key to their team's post season success. Listing in alphabetical order: Taye Calloway- Doss Senior came from the 2nd region to rejoin his former Henderson County Coach in the 6th region and picked up right where he left off back at Henderson County. Calloway can get hot and when paired with his teammate, Stephon Franklin, makes for a dangerous backcourt. Luke Ezell- Bullitt East needs to get past Jeffersontown to get back to the Regionals this year. Having Luke Ezell run the point and be able to score or get his teammates good looks makes that a pretty good chance they will. Luke may not be the biggest out there, but he sure is one of the toughest as he finishes his career at Bullitt East hoping for a return to the Regionals. Stephon Franklin- Franklin is the 2nd senior from Doss that is on the list to watch this post season. Franklin has been to Rupp before as a Sophomore and that taste to get back after missing last year is what makes this strong bodied lead guard a threat to return. Gerald Gray- Gray was expected to be part of an outstanding senior backcourt along with Trey Hill, but only Gray remained healthy all season for the Panthers. He has picked up his level of play to keep Pleasure Ridge Park a threat by having a very solid season and will need to continue to do so as his backcourt mate returns for a run at Rupp together. Curt Lewis- The Valley Vikings pin their hopes on a 6th region post season run squarely on the broad shoulders of their Senior Mr. Basketball Finalist as voted by KABC 6th region members. No team has a single player like Curt Lewis that is capable of volume scoring while doing many other things so important for his team that could result in a capable run through the Regionals. Ahmad Price- Only the Fern Creek team has a backcourt that has started together for 4 seasons complimenting each other as well as Ahmad Price does with Anthony Wales. Price excels at scoring at the basket when slashing or hitting mid-range jumpers and is an outstanding rebounder who is a great competitor. Glenn Queen- This senior Point Guard is very experienced playing major minutes in all four of his Fairdale seasons, but has driven team success this season by shooting less and facilitating more in his final season. Glenn is one of the best in the 6th at attacking the basket when his team needs a score, and during the post season that is a weapon that helps teams advance. Markelo Sullivan- Fairdale has another Senior who has channeled his last season into his best. There is not another outside shooter in the 6th who has shown as steady of a 3 point stroke and Fairdale has rode his hot hand all season. If Sullivan gets going, he is a difficult person to stop because he gets his shot off even when defended well. Anthony Wales- Fern Creek has enjoyed post season success in the past under their very experienced point guard, Anthony Wales. In his junior season he showed how valuable he is running a team from the point guard position as the Tigers made their first ever State Tournament. This season he has had to focus more on finding shots to increase his scoring output while still being an unselfish facilitator. When Wales has been at his best in doing this, the Tigers rarely lose. Jaquay Wales- Although it may seem odd that Butler only has a single person on the Top 10 list, it is because the Butler team is so balanced with many contributors. Several of their starting five, including Junior Maurice Tolley, could be on this list as he is their leading scorer. However, the leader of this team is Jaquay Wales. Jaquay is not as explosive of a scorer as some missing from this list, but make no mistake that he will be a critical piece of leading Butler to post season success with his steady play as their senior lead guard.

I agree that the Tigers have not looked the same of late compared to how they looked winning the KOB, but tonight's win over Fairdale should not cast any negative doubt on how they are trending. Fairdale like 5 or so other 6th regions teams are just tough to beat. There is some depth at the top of the 6th and Fairdale is squarely in that mix of very solid teams. They were 12-1 heading into this game since the LIT and the only loss was to Butler on the road by 5 points in a game they lead much of the way. Butler is leading the pack and the favorite for the 6th title based on the regular season, but both Fairdale and Fern Creek are threats. It took a really good game from Wales who scored 28 and solid game from both Price and Wickliffe to beat Fairdale which is the key for a long run by the Tigers. Those three all need to be playing their best, but if they are they do become dangerous like you mentioned. It took a solid game to beat Fairdale last night, so in that aspect it was a upturn for Fern Creek to end the season on that note.

Two Louisville 6th region teams at Fern Creek's Senior night went toe to toe like a heavyweight fight the way basketball is fun to watch. Crowd got their money's worth and both teams are going to come away with positives to take. Fern Creek jumped out early, but the way Sullivan shoots for Fairdale there is not a lead they can't come back from. They were down 17 in the first half and still managed to take a 1 point lead briefly in the 2nd half.

I agree that Trevon is cut out of a different cloth, humble as can be. He does so many things well to be a kid that does not need to have his ego stroked. The thing that describes his best is a fierce competitor. He just plays so hard to help his team win. One thing though, he stopped playing with his local team after his 15U season. He played 16U on the NIKE EYBL circuit (16U division) with the Travelers and he immediately started attracting attention from Power 5 programs. But in his own style, he chose to stay local and cast his future with NKU which is a great fit for him. He will be a star for that program and I am glad he will be a part of the tradition NKU is building by keeping talented in state kids home to play college ball.

I have a the same feeling @dognation, and I won't get into individual play or particular coaching strategies that do have an impact. But in generalities it has been mentioned by others and I agree that this team is better when they are able to play the underdog role. After winning the KOB that seemed to vanish and I did not see the hungry dog or chip on the shoulder that propelled them in the past. Hungry dogs run faster and they did not seem to possess the hunger as if they had already accomplished one of the few things remaining for them. Remember that last year they had never ever been to a state tourney so they kept that hunger throughout. Plus it must be mentioned that Chance Moore is not walking out from that locker room anymore. That young man was special and he took so much attention from opposing defenses that it opened things up for others. The last thing that plays into the team is they have 10 seniors and years past when they all did not play much they each had another season to look forward to. Now they do not and there is this realization that this is it. The culture is different when they all would like to be out on the court contributing and possibly get recruited to continue their dream. You add 3 freshmen who can also contribute then all of a sudden the competition for minutes from 13 kids just can work against a team as kids settle in on the roles the team needs from them. They have a couple of players that need to get hot and produce the scoring potential they need and that means looking for their shots while not being selfish. If they can figure it out in short order they have the ability obviously, but time is running short.

One week to go and the real fun begins in post season when a ranking will not matter because only one team will be left heading to Rupp. This past week produced a couple of key games that determined the rankings shift ever so slightly. Here is the rankings heading into the final games left from the regular season 1. Butler (24-2): Butler took care of Doss to earn the #1 seed in district play last week and for good measure they also beat Fairdale and John Hardin. That was a great week and they have proven without a doubt they are the #1 ranked team in the 6th region. They finish with Southern and JTown so they will enter post season with a glossy 26-2 record. 2. Doss (19-6): The Dragons did lose to Butler in a great game, but they also beat PRP & Collins to finish the week strong. Doss will be the 2nd seed in districts, but they are looking for the rematch with Butler to prove they are the best team in the region. Not much separates these two teams who stand atop the rankings. Doss finishes the regular season against Valley. 3. Fern Creek (20-6): For now Fern Creek looks a little behind the top 2, but they are not far behind. The loss to St. Xavier was concerning as they looked like they had turned the tide after a rough patch in January. A good game with Fairdale ends the regular season for both on Friday night. The winner of that game will be right behind Butler and Doss as the favorites entering post season play. 4. Fairdale (19-8): Fairdale went 2-1 last week, beating Valley to win the #1 seed in the district tourney but lost to Butler in a close game or they could have vaulted into the top 3. They have clearly made a mark and are now a very real threat in the region. A great finish for Fairdale lies ahead as they play Fern Creek on Friday. 5. Valley (18-8): The Vikings may have lost the #1 seed to Fairdale, but not much separates the two teams in the tough 21st district. Valley was up 24 heading into the final period and ended up losing in OT on a last second shot. Valley ends the season against Doss on Friday. With the loss to Fairdale they must take on PRP in a big district semi final game to determine who advances and whose season ends once district play begins. 6. Pleasure Ridge Park (16-10): The Panthers lost to Doss last week in a close game and made a statement that they should not be counted out once post season begins. They finish the season with Moore and North Bullitt so they should end up with a bit of momentum as they face Valley. 7. Iroquois (16-10): Iroquois plays in a very tough district, one of the best in the state. Despite coming in 4th, don't count them out. They play Valley in the last week of the season and everyone should keep a close watch on that outcome as it should be a great game. 8. Bullitt East (15-13): Bullitt East had a good week with only a close loss to Fairdale stopping them from being on a 5 game winning streak going into the final week when they play both John Hardin and Etown. 9. DeSales (13-13): DeSales had a bad loss to Western or they would have held on to their #7 ranking. DeSales finishes with North Oldham before playing Doss in districts. 10. Jeffersontown (14-10): Jeffersontown stays in the Top 10 despite two losses to teams ranked ahead of them. Who has a tougher last week of the season facing both Doss and Butler? 11. North Bullitt (12-14): The Eagles finish the season against PRP. 12. Southern (11-11): The last week includes Butler and Iroquois. 13. Bullitt Central (16-10): Leap over Holy Cross after an overtime victory over them. Finish with Spencer County 14. Holy Cross (14-11): Tough game this week versus St. Xavier for the Cougars. 15. Moore (6-18): Good win for the Mustangs over Western but the last week has PRP and Fairdale on the schedule. 16. Western (3-21): Kudos for the win against DeSales last week. 17. Whitefield Academy (12-12): Bullitt Central on February 15th. 18. Beth Haven (6-18): Beth Haven finishes against Ft. Knox. 19. Evangel Christian (3-18): Two wins last week to have their best week of the season.

JR Mathis from Kentucky Country Day in Louisville is a true freshman at Navy which is not the norm. The Service Academies are known for having the true freshmen go to the Prep Academies. You can only be there 4 years, unlike a college that can red shirt a player and have 5 years. Unless they plan to use you as a freshmen, it is better for both player and the academy to have that initial year at one of their Preps.
