Should Private Schools Have Their Own Playoff?

Recommended Posts

Any rules at any public school that prevents out of county or out of state players are strictly self imposed. They have chosen to restrict themselves.

Some schools in KY drug test and kids can be removed from athletic competition for violations. Some schools have more stringent academic eligibility requirements then those mandated by the KHSAA. Would those schools be right to expect all other schools adopt and abide by those same constraints?

Why do you want to reside in a county where you are forced to go to a certain public school when there is a county next door that does not force you to go to a certain school?

Kind of crazy thinking to think everyone has the ability to just pick up and move to another county for high school sports.

What? This happens? There should be some kind of organization set up to oversee and regulate high school athletics to ensure these things don't happen and all schools abide by the same rules. What does everyone else think?

Well in NKY it is a matter of moving as little as a mile. :sssh: And you can live in Boone County and go to a school in another county if you want to. You just can't go to a different public school in Boone Co which is a Boone Co rule. Want to go to Highlands which is a public school? Pay tuition and have at it.

Are there KHSAA rules that all schools aren't required to follow?

No, I never even hinted at that. My point was that 90% of parents can't just up and sell their home and move just so Jr can play on an all star high school football team.

Again they do not have to move. They can attend other schools and live in Boone Co. They just can't attend the Boone Co school of their choice. Meanwhile Cousin Eddie in the next county has his pick of public county schools to attend. Who loses there?

Every family doesn't have the money or ability to move that one mile or pay tuition to Highlands.

They have an advantage, things won’t change, so let them play and pretend it is equal. At the end of the day its a bunch of kids playing, and parents with large tuition bills that would have paid for college when little Johnney doesn’t get his big D1 scholarship. #go public

Well then you either accept the rules that Boone County has laid out and go to the school you are forced to go to.....or you organize an effort to change the Boone County rules to be like Kenton County where Cousin Eddie can go to Dixie and his sister Susie can go to Dixie and his brother Fred can decide to go to Scott.

Exactly what advantages do they have?

Aren't any of them outweighed by the large tuition bills you mention?
