I like my bocks like I like my gangers: doppeled.

Today's been real dumb. I've got a few tasty beers in the fridge, but this has the makings of a whiskey night.

I like dobblebock, but I'd prefer a regular old "bock".

That reminds me though...I need to go back to the bourbon store to replenish my supplies. I was down to the last drink in 4 different bottles as of a week ago. Killed two of them last night - Blanton's and then Wathen's.

The 25th annual Bockfest is going to be the first weekend of March. I'm planning on heading up to Cincinnati for the occasion, like I do each year.

I'm not sure how many breweries will have offerings available at the participating venues, but I'll make it my mission to try as many of them as possible.

Arnold's Bar in downtown Cincy posted this to Twitter the other day...it's got me hankering.

I'm not sure I'll be going but Rhinegeist is having a 25 tap takeover at Dickman's on Wednesday. It looked like they had some unique offerings and a obviously several staples.

I went to a takeover they did there a year or so ago and they did a pretty cheap 4-6 ounce pour if you want to try a bunch. I recommend sliding it to easily try some of their beers.

Outside of Shiner Bock I'm not sure I've ever had another Bock beer. I'll have to look it up later. Not a style I'm familiar with at all. Kind of shocked a bar has an entire "Bockfest".

@formerkywrestler I'm with you, I've had Shiner but couldn't recall drinking another brand of Bock. I pulled up beeradvocate and out of the first 500 I viewed, only one have I tasted. Sam Adams Winter Lager .

Bocks are easily my favorite session-type beer. They're like a German dunkel, only a bit more malty. Bocks are like a ying to an English Pale's yang.

Also, for what it's worth, Arnold's is not the only place particpating in Bockfest...it's more of a "flagship" location. There are actually 20 participating venues, and a free shuttle that operates from 7:00pm-1:00am between all the venues.

Tonight officially kicked off Bockfest 2017 in Cincinnati. It's a Lentin tradition started by monks to keep their calorie count up while fasting. Bock beer is high calorie and delicious.

In Cincinnati this will be the 25th year of Bockfest. It gets bigger and funnier every year.

Are their any other Bock lovers out there?

Love me some Shiner Bock. I remember going to Austin back around 2000-02 for South By Southwest and discovering the stuff. You could get it for $1.25 a can or about 2 bucks for a draft pint. Must be some expensive shipping costs to get it to Ky these days.
