Bernie's fair share

Recommended Posts

He wants to raise every one else's taxes yet only paid at a 13% effective rate. :sssh:

According to a bit of Googling he and his wife made enough to be in the 28% bracket yet he found enough deductions and loopholes to cut his effective rate in half. Hypocrisy any way you slice it. A good Socialist like him should be happy to give the government more.

HRC makes more in one speech to Goldman Sachs than he makes in a year. I find that hilarious. I find it interesting that no audio tapes have come out on any of her speeches to the big banks. There is a reason why she is so afraid to release the transcripts.

You would think TMZ would have come up with some audio or video by now...

No one in the 28% tax bracket pays 28% of their income in taxes.

But are they advocating across the board tax increases? I didn't say he did anything illegal, I said he did something hypocritical by reducing his tax burden while trying to increase everyone elses.

I've said it before but it bears repeating, it's my belief that ANYONE who thinks there should be any tax increases is a hypocrite if they do anything (legal or otherwise) to reduce their own tax liability.

No offense, but your theory is seriously flawed.

Maybe, maybe not. Would you care to explain why?

You are asking for unilateral disarmament. It is perfectly reasonable to seek a change in the system while operating under the system that is currently in place. Same as George Clooney's point on $ in politics. Basically, he said he wishes he didn't have to raise $ and is trying to elect people who agree with him on that point. However, if he simply didn't raise $ because he opposes the system, that would leave all the influence to the Koch brothers and others he disagrees with.

Sorry. it's hypocritical however you try to paint it. If he, or any politician believes that people should pay more in taxes then he/she should lead by example.

I would agree with you if it was a FORCED system. Bernie wasn't FORCED to cut his effective tax rate from 28% to 13%. He could have paid MORE than the 28% bracket he is in if he wanted to...so why didn't he if he thinks everyone else should? So yes, @All Tell 's point has perfect merit. Bernie could have lived by the example he teaches/preaches and he chose not to do so.
