Voice of Reason
In the last paragraph it says Manfred was not convinced that Rose was completely honest in their meeting about his gambling activity while in baseball. Personally, I think it was so long ago and Rose has lied so much he doesn't even know what the truth is anymore
LOOGY
My only problem is how hypocritical the MLB is. They are in bed with Draft Kings yet say gambling is a cardinal sin of baseball

Tell Pete he's still done with baseball, but put him in the Hall. Give me a break.

Voice of Reason
At this point, gambling really isn't Rose's and baseball's issue with reinstatement. Lack of honesty and humility from Rose are.

Voice of Reason
The dumbest move baseball did in the whole Pete Rose saga was changing the rules and linking reinstatement with the Hall of Fame. If they had left that alone, the HOF issue would have been settled long ago and nobody would care about Rose getting reinstated.
Colonels_Wear_Blue
I will say, I think it personally benefits Pete more right now to NOT be in the hall. I think he gets booked for appearances based much more on being the greatest baseball player to have ever been banned from baseball.

lawildcat
I loved watching Pete Rose as much as any other lifelong resident of this area but he doesn't deserve to get a pass. He has done absolutely nothing since he was banned to redeem himself. Keep lying down with those dogs, Pete.
Voice of Reason
Baseball didn't change the rule. The Hall did. Yes and no. It was the Hall but if you look at who was behind the move and pushed, it was MLB executives. The writers even discussed what action they could take against the rule change.
