Manfred stated Rose told him he still bets on horses, pro sports - including baseball.

What's wrong with that?

Is this a real question?

Pete Rose is a total blockhead ... literally and figuratively. :lol2:

After years saying he never bet on baseball as Reds player-manager, Rose told Manfred he bet on EVERY Reds game: http://fw.to/s85xfdM

Pete can never get out of his own way.

I think he said that because many have speculated over the years, that if there were days that he didn't bet that it was a tip off to the bookies to not bet the Reds that day. Rose is saying, "Hey, I bet on my team to win every day"
At this point, gambling really isn't Rose's and baseball's issue with reinstatement. Lack of honesty and humility from Rose are.

There are a lot of great players in all hall of fames, coaching and commentating lacking Honestly and Humility.

Kostya Kennedy of Sports Illustrated just made a great point on MLB Network...

What is in it for MLB to bring Pete into baseball? There is nothing in it for Baseball...they trot him out for celebrations every once in a while and use him as they want to...then basically discard him at the end of the day.

Why do the Reds fans over the age of say 40 love Pete so much? Don't you realize that he lied to you for 24 years. Lied to an entire city, an entire generation of fans, and verbally attacked people that accused him.

And now with reports saying Rose is still gambling on baseball, add ignorance as the number one problem for Pete Rose.

Yeah, and Bill Clinton was re-elected too. Character of these personalities doesn't seem to be a problem for most people. People love how Rose and Clinton performed their jobs so they overlooked character.

He's a baseball player. I don't care if he lied to me or not. Why do Reds fans under the age of 40 take it so personally? Who cares if he lied, slept with 100s of women, drank beer? The bottom line is that he was one hell of a baseball player and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame based on his baseball accolades.

Is this a real question?

Is it illegal to bet on horses? Because if it is, I'm in deep :poop:

The only reason Pete didn't get reinstated was because Pete couldn't get out of his own way. If he retired quietly in Cincinnati Pete would be in the HOF today. But no, he had to keep gambling on sports, live in Vegas, and quite frankly just keep being himself. He never changed which stinks cause he deserves to be in the HOF.
