Randy Parker
Jesus was anti-capitalist? And anti-wealth? And anti-public prayer? And anti-death penalty?
Bengal Maniac
Jesus was anti-capitalist? And anti-wealth? And anti-public prayer? And anti-death penalty? That's the way some people interpret the Bible. Thus the problem, interpret.
Randy Parker
That's the way some people interpret the Bible. Thus the problem, interpret. That's because people often approach the Bible looking to justify beliefs they already hold.

Randy Parker
Yep, I believe that is his point. His points are dumb and easily disproved. He calls Jesus a peaceful radical, but Jesus himself said that he didn't come to bring peace, but a sword. He says Jesus was anti-wealth, yet he had wealthy friends. He says Jesus was against public prayer, yet Jesus publicly prayed. There are much better arguments for keeping religion and politics separate. Michael Corleone
Against the death penalty, really? He allowed himself to be crucified.
theguru
No matter where anyone stands on any issue Politics and Religion should never mix.
75center
I agree with the separation of Church and government. As for not mixing politics and religion that will never happen. Politicians will always be influenced by whatever molded them into the people they are, including their religious background. I don't see anyway around it. Randy Parker
So, was the other 90+ percent of what the guy said correct? I agree with some of it. Jesus not being white, being a homeless Jew, hanging with lepers, prostitutes, etc. Some of the rest I don't agree with. Jesus not saying anything about pre-marital sex, abortion, etc.
Habib
I didn't read the article, but I gather the gist of it from the comments here. The only comment I will add is that Jesus lived during a "political" time w/r/t the Roman Empire and the only thing I can find that he said about it was "give to Caesar what is Caesar's." Thus, my response to modern day assertions that "Jesus would support [x,y,z] policy" or "Jesus commands I vote this way" to be "probably not."
