This job was open to applicants this morning with the resignation of Wes Scarberry this season less than a week before the start of the season. Stephon Harris who was an assistant coach on the staff was made the interim head coach (who I thought did a good job in tough circumstances) he had one of the toughest schedules in the state.

The job is required to be posted and should receive some very good applications as the Broncos return all 5 of their starters next season.

Is this a formality of Coach Harris taking it or is it truly open?

It will be truly open I'm pretty sure and I think it will get some good applicants imo.

The interim is not getting the job, may stay on as assistant but is not getting the job. A lot of names circulating for this one, coaches with state championships, coaches who have coached Mr. Basketballs and coaches who have coached undefeated regular seasons. Will be interesting to see if they go old or young.

Well the “undefeated regular seasons” points toward Mt. Sterling I’m assuming.

Have to think if the interim was getting the job, it wouldn’t have taken this long.

There have not even scheduled any interviews as of this afternoon the two main principals have had meetings and other things and have been in and out of school since returning from spring break. They will not be any interviews at the earliest the end of this week or the first of next week.

All of the hints above about potential coaches means one of two things they either did not apply or had a change of heart because as of early this afternoon the job was reposted until April 23. Which I won't give the exact reason why but I will just say it is for one or two reasons: 1) They did not have any of the applicants jump out at them or someone contacted the administration that is impressive candidate after the first deadline.

Unless this one referred to above applies between today and next Tuesday it will not be him because as of today he has not applied.

He was at Dunbar two maybe three years.  Before that coached in college.  He still works in Fayette County Schools.
