Reds 2015 Roster

Hoover isnt going anywhere due to the fact nobody will want a below avg pitcher.

Almost half of the pitchers on staffs across the league are below average pitchers...

Semantics...

Hoover is still a bag of doo doo compared to the league average pitcher.

Sad, but true. That said, the only alternative is a complete tear down & rebuild.

Trusting Walt to do that?

When healthy this team is not that bad and should be a playoff team. Injury's killed them this season so lets not jump in the Ohio River just yet. IfI recall correctly they swept the Giants in San Franciscon 4-0 and was playing well until the injury's desimated them. The division is the most balanced in baseball and had 3 really good teams, with the Cubs much improved. I think another year has to be allowed to develop, HOWEVER we have to make some changes,

1. Of course we all know (LF)-primarily we need a bat/Ludwick has to go and we have no one to replace him

2. Latos- is a head case to the max, will never win a playoff game with his attitude and being a softie, has upside to him but shut it down early this year, once we were out of playoffs he was "hurt" we can get a bat for him and some prospects

3. Pitchers- Cueto, Bailey, Cingrani, Leake, New Cuban pitcher, Simon

4. Negron can play SS/2B I would keep him for sure,

After watching the playoffs, the Cardinals and Giants Especially really work the count and pitchers, the Reds do not, they have to take better at bats this upcoming season with that being said, when

Votto, Bruce, Phillips, Frazier and Meso started a game the Reds averaged 5.1 runs per game, 2.3 when they did not. Keep in mind they were only 1 game out of first at all star break. I think we are a year away from the rebuild mode.

The person who is not going to get talked about is Hamilton. He really did not have that good of a year. Bad OBP. Bad OPS. Thrown out a lot trying to steal. I can see everyone skating on him since he was a rookie, and I understand. Perhaps a good year for a rookie, but not a good year if you are trying to find offensive production for the Reds.

Agree, he played in spurts all year, but his defense was GREAT maybe the best in the league with Gomez from Milkwuakee and he is a rookie. He does have to get on base more and I think that will come, the getting thrown out is ridiculous, it happens way to much especially at 3rd, awful tough base to steal. However if he has Votto behind him which is a lefty batter that is a huge hole for Joey to hit in, just didnt get to see that enough with the injury's. I think that Billy and the staff felt pressure to send him simply because they couldn't score any other way.

Some interesting things about Billy H.

Lead all rookies, in runs, hits, doubles, triples, stolen bases, Defense, and tied for RBI's, crazy stats, batted 250

However struck out 117 times, caught stealing 23 times

I believe I would take that from a rookie, he needs to improve for sure but not to shabby for a rook!

That attitude will lead to another year of disappointment. This team has never been able to score runs in the clutch. Even in 2011, 12, and 13 when they were in playoff contention the entire year, we knew they couldn't consistently score runs. Even when they led the league in runs scored in 2012 (I think) we knew, because we saw then every day. They would rugularly score 3 runs in two days and then score 9 the next day. It happened several times.

BP would not be a 1-6 hitter if he played for the cardinals, yankees, tigers, angels, Nationals, or a plethora of other teams.

Jay Bruce is a good player, but not great. He is not good enough to be a major pillar in the offense. He is a great addition when others are doing well.

Since Ludwick, Bruce, Phillips, Gomes, Stubbs, hamilton, Cozart, Rolen, and other players that have played every day for us are inconsistent hitters, we needed Joey Votto to swing the stupid bat on a 2-1 count when the pitcher throws a ball in his wheel house.

Frazier and Meso are quite intruiging. They may end up being better than any of us predicted.

Just my two cents.

Gone: No one

Added: No One

Why does anyone think anyone will be gone?, the season was blamed on injuries according to the owners. The roster will be exactly the same.

Thats gonna be a problem then.

Doubt there will be much movement in the 1st 7, as many have said. Bullpen is always a fluid group--seem to add a few and move a few every year. I think the only big move will be Cueto or Latos. They know they can't keep both but will they find a trade during the off-season or have to wait until the trade deadline?

Glass half empty?

Reds got career years out of Cueto, Simon, Chapman, Frazier, Mesoroco, Negron, Pena. Will that happen again in 2015?

Ludwick has to go. Hoover needs to go. Bring Cigrani back up. Latos and Cueto I would shop them both and see which i get the best deal for. BP has been solid on D. Thats what you want from middle infielders having a hot bat is a bonus. Votto need to get and stay healthy. Bruce needs to find out where his bat is at.

I would not be upset to see Heisey in the lineup everyday.

Heisey sucks...

Heisey's ceiling is as an average pinch-hitter and late inning defensive replacement. That is it.
