LRCW Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 What players from the 2014 roster do you not seeing being on the 2015 roster. And what players that weren't on the 2014 Opening Day roster impressed you enough this year to feel they deserve a spot on the 2015 Opening Day roster. I'll start . Gone: Mat Latos, Ryan Ludwick, Brandon Phillips, Chris Heisey, , Ramon Santiago, Logan Ondrusek, Jack Hannahan, Deserve spot on 2015 Opening Day Roster: Kris Negron, Dylan Axlerod, Jumbo Diaz
LOOGY Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I agree with your list LRCW, but I'd switch Cueto for Latos. I think Latos would be a little cheaper, plus Cueto probably would have a better return.
plantmanky Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Gone: Latos, Phillips, Cueto, Votto, Ludwick, Cozart, Hover
LRCW Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Who is taking on BP and his contract? I'll let you know come March.
HammerTime Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I agree with your gone list other than BP.
Jack of all Trades Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Why is one of the first names mentioned always Brandon Phillips? Guy is one year removed from 100 RBI and was injured this year. If I am the Reds, I have some conversations with Jay Bruce about changing his approach at the plate and if unwilling to do so, I am looking to unload him. I agree on moving Cueto, especially after the season he had this year. His market value is extremely high and his track record says that he will likely miss several starts over the course of a season. This year was an anomaly. I would also consider moving Aroldis Chapman for the same reasons as Cueto. Just make sure he goes to the American League so that you do not have to face him down the road. If there are no changes made to the everyday 8, then changes certainly need to be made on the bench. Heisey and Shumaker are ideal bench players, but the rest leave a lot to be desired. Lutz and Santiago certainly do not put fear in an opponents mind.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Who is taking on BP and his contract? Whomever wants one of Latos or Cueto badly enough. Plus, they, and the Reds, will have to convince BP to accept the move.

littleluck55 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Whomever wants one of Latos or Cueto badly enough. Plus, they, and the Reds, will have to convince BP to accept the move. Yep, and I would look either East Coast or West Coast
se7ens Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Who is more likely to get a roster spot - Holmberg or Axelrod or Cingrani?
LRCW Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Who is more likely to get a roster spot - Holmberg or Axelrod or Cingrani?Cingrani if healthy.
ESPNdeux Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Cueto or Latos' value will be highest at the trade deadline next year when someone really needs a pitcher, assuming both stay healthy. A big part of me wants to say you figure out what you can offer Cueto right now, and offer it to him this offseason take it or leave it. If he says no, you move on to Latos and sign him. If he says yes, you shop Latos. However, there is a part of me that remembers that Johnny was hurt for a long period of time last year, and wonders if he can hold up. What is clear is that someone needs to be dealt for some legitimate prospects at some point. And that the Reds need to start developing some bats. I see some solid arms in their system. But they need to produce some of their own position players like they did in the mid-late 2000's when Votto, Bruce, Frazier, Cozart, Alonso, Grandal, Meso, etc. were coming through the system. We have riden that wave of talent for about 6 years now, and we need the new wave to develop to jump onto. That's how small market teams work.
frankdracman23 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I am assuming you mean the 25 man active roster and not the 40 man roster.......Bailey will start the season on the DL so that opens a starting spot. Cingrani might be back to the long relief spot since that was a bad spot this year with Simon, Latos, Cueto, Leake, and Axelrod if all 5 are healthy which is likely doubtful or not traded which I do not think will happen. Bullpen would have to have Diaz as 8th inning guy and Chapman as closer. After that only Sam is probably a lock and most likely the 7th inning guy. Rest of the bullpen is probably up for grabs. I do think Santiago is gone unfortunately. Pena would have to be back if they had any sense. Ludwick and Heisey most likely gone. Reds pretty much "all in" in 2015 because that may be it for awhile.
All In Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Gone: No one Added: No One Why does anyone think anyone will be gone?, the season was blamed on injuries according to the owners. The roster will be exactly the same.
