kyyank Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Guru and all BC followers, are the days of them being competitive over? Has redistricting, with the addition of Cooper, relegated them to an inner city school, where schools tend to struggle with issues that traditional powers don't have?
theguru Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 No And in 2015 I believe they are going to be 5A. The future is bright for Boone.
Hellbird Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I've said this for a couple years and still believe it. I think football in Boone County will be just like Girls and Boys basketball in the county where it will go in cycles who the good teams and bad teams are. Look at girls basketball in the county now, each team has beaten and lost to eachother. The talent is spread around to all the schools it is parody at its best.
kyyank Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Given the demographics of BC, I'm curious if there will be enough parents guiding their son to football. Basketball is easy to get numbers to play, and it only takes a star or two to make a decent squad. Football requires more.

I think you need to give the new coach a couple of more years before you start with all the doom and gloom.
munoz Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I don't care how good a coach you are. You still have to have some players. The key in public schools is to have the right coach and staff in place to do something with the talent when it comes through.
munoz Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 No And in 2015 I believe they are going to be 5A. The future is bright for Boone. Who do you think is going to want to move up to 6A? 5A would be good for Boone if someone wants to play up.
tark the shark Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That dog does not hunt anymore. Jeff Tierney is not coming though those doors, Jeff Nelson is not coming through those doors, Jeff Watts is not coming.... You get the picture!
theguru Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Who do you think is going to want to move up to 6A? 5A would be good for Boone if someone wants to play up. There are some threads on that.
theguru Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 To respond to both of you on talent, there is a lot more talent there right now that most people realize. I believe Boone should have a solid year.
TheRealDeal Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I think this will be another bad year. They have some athletes though and floyd is a great one.
Voice of Reason Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I think a good way to judge talent is look at freshman team results. Freshman games are usually won by more talented teams. I know Boone had a pretty good freshman team a couple years ago, but I also believe Thad Moss was on that team. How did the senior-sophomore classes at Boone do as freshmen? Before this goes off in the wrong direction, I don't believe freshman ball results determine varsity results a few years later. A lot happens from freshman year to senior year. Teams that are just ok as freshmen can be good varsity teams.
Hellbird Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I think this will be another bad year. They have some athletes though and floyd is a great one. Floyd was a great athlete, but when used in the wrong position the end results are not good. Floyd is not a QB and they were pretty much doomed from the start as soon as they moved Floyd to QB because of injury.
RockinGa Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I remember those tough Boone County teams from the 80's and 90's. I'd love to see them bounce back and dominate again.
uk#1fan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 They can't win games when they had the number of injuries like they did last year.
