Petrino is back at Louisville

To go along with leaving one DURING a single season. (i.e. see Atlanta Falcons)

I seem to be striking a lot of nerves recently. And for what it's worth I hate Obama worse then anything else on Earth. UK is after that.

Sent from my SCH-I405 using Forum Runner

I wouldn't give yourself that much credit. I watch more UL football than UK. A lot more interesting. But you are the mirror image of what you always call out UK fans for. This being no exception.

People are acting like Bobby Petrino slept with their sister or something. Why should I care about a football coach's sex life if he is a good coach?

You shouldn't. And I don't either.

However, when coaches can't keep their sex lives out of the national media, and the university supports it, it makes the university an easy target for rivals.

Not that any of that matters as long as they win.

No doubt in my mind that UL would have let Pitino go after his mess if they thought they could do better at the time. No doubt in my mind that UL wouldn't have hired Petrino back if they thought they could have done better. Baggage only matters when you don't win. That goes for UL, UK and any other high profile job.

The only thing that ever bothered me about Petrino was the lying to the Arkansas officials about the whole motorcycle incident and compromising the integrity of his position. Beyond that who cares if he screws around? Seriously. Now don't hurt the kids, I get that but I never got all worked over the other stuff. People switch jobs all the time. That's America. He is great for college football.

This. For me the cheating part doesn't bother me. That's between he and his family. It's the slimy way he lobbied for every job that came open when he was at UofL the last time, signs an extension then jumps at the first job that was offered before the ink was dry. Then the way he left the falcons is as bad as it gets. As for the Arkansas mess, his actions embarrassed the University and really put them in a bad spot. He's an idiot and a scumbag. That said, as I stated in the other thread, if UL and it's fans are happy more power to them. But if I was Jurich I would make sure the butt kicking he took in Fayetteville would pale in comparison to what he will get if he embarrasses the Cards.

Well, at some schools coaches are role models and father figures for teens.

When someone is in a position where you men look up to them, you don't expect that person to be perfect but at least have some qualities of a role model. Cheating on your wife with a woman half your age who I believe was engaged to be married and then lie to your AD about it........

John Anthony beat me to it.

He is 14 games OVER 500 since leaving Louisville even when you add in the 3-10 with Atlanta.

As a WKU grad I'm very relieved. As a current WKU student, my son is ecstatic.

That said, he will win at Louisville, no doubt.

Not sure where you got those numbers... He's 42-21 (Arkansas and WKU) since he left... 83-30 if you include his time at UofL.

I didn't make them up, just screwed them up. I added up his record with the Falcons, with WKU, along with his games against ranked teams to come up with that original number, which is not what I stated.

His winning pct. against ranked teams all time is 44% and his winning pct. in the SEC was 53%.

And the fact that he owns UK has nothing to do with it?

Of course if that were the criteria for hating a coach there would be LOTS of coaches that UK hates.

Your second sentence basically contradicts your first sentence.

Let's be honest, John L and Charlie basically owned UK also but most (not all) UK fans to some degree respected them, maybe not liked them but respected them. Me, I actually liked both John L. and Charlie. I believe most UK fans are like me in that their dislike of Petrino is because the man is a pompous (arse) who shows little concern for anyone else but himself which includes his AD's, his players, his wife, etc..

Hammer who you want, win games. That goes for all coaches at all schools.

I don't understand how people continue to be so shocked when a college goes after really good coaches with character flaws. While they give sportsmanship trophies, they give them to 2nd place. No boosters are giving more money to the University for sportsmanship awards.
