Mega Cavern - Lights Under Louisville

Who's been? How does it compare to attractions like Coney Islands' Christmas Nights of Lights?

It's pretty cool for the little ones. I HIGHLY recommend not going on the weekend if you can avoid it. The lines can be ridiculous on peak nights.

I was talked into going to the Mega Cavern light display by the in-laws. It’s a fun Christmasy thing to do, especially when someone else is paying (lol). However, I had major anxiety the whole time.... I hate being underground, lol.

Agree to go early and on a weekday; the lines are crazy from all directions.

Never been to the Coney one although I’ve seen a lot of it this past week, simply driving down Kellogg Ave. It looks beautiful!

The being underground was the coolest part for me. :lol2: It's pretty crazy just how elaborate those caves are.

It is so big and not claustrophobia. Roll the windows down and enjoy. I was impressed and the historical reasons for extending, building the caves is awesome.

Meh not interested really, despite living less than 10 minutes away. Then again I find most decorations superfluous and unnecessary. Considering who I am married to, this has obviously caused problems in the past.

Right under the zoo and surrounding neighborhoods.

There's also one under Lexington. Stretches almost under Rupp to wayout to Limestone. Appropriately was (is still perhaps?) a limestone mine. Was in a pickup truck way down in it and the driver stopped and turned off lights. That was real darkness.

They even have a popular Zip-line course. I think it is called something like Underground Louisville (?), not sure.

Yeah it's not advertised like the zoo. And you don't go in by the main entrance of the zoo either.
