  1. I was very impressed with Cresap, Shelby's QB and #23 receiver, I think both juniors. Just not enough to go with them. Line play for SC began strong, but withered under relentless pressure from blitzing T ends, corners and LBs. Lots of zone blitzes tonight by a spirited and reckless Rock D and a balanced offensive attack. Impressive win over a much improved SC squad.
  2. Couldn't help noticing the X radio broadcasters' criticism of the Tigers running plays at the end of the game instead of kneeling to run out the clock. They were really blunt about it, calling the decision to do so "ridiculous." Interested in reading comments from any who were there. Were they on target?
  3. You are just way off base here. Enough said.
  4. They were large in number, speed and talent. Rocks were just too much for them.
  5. A cooling thread during game week. Has armageddon begun?
  6. Great insights, OX. This rivalry is special. Talent, speed, size, all the physical factors often fly out the window. Great respect abides.
  7. Impressive. I heard Elder played all their ones until the end to get the late score.
  8. Why would you demean this coach who has, in the minds of so many X fans, been so classy all these years? :irked: I would think he would do what any coach would if he were fortunate enough to have a comfortable lead - play reserves and get them some reps. Congrats to Coach G on so many years of success.
  9. Hats off to the Purples for an outstanding defensive effort and execution. Nice crowd on a night when it rained up until kickoff. This is an enjoyable, competitive series. Add a more determined passing attack and they will be a force to be reckoned with.
  10. Let's see...Rocks playing a team where they are widely thought to be overmatched and almost everyone expects them to lose. They usually beat teams like this the way Adam Richman beats food.
  11. Cincy X came to Louisville last year and were dominated - the score was not indicative of the game - by Trinity. Don't count the Tigers out.
  12. Lights, refs, clean-up, staffing...not surprising. Scrimmages at T and X are not exactly tossed together willy-nilly. But back to the question...Tigers D too tough for young Bruins. X by 4 scores.
  13. Timing problems were evident, but overall GREAT test for the Rocks. Playing a team of that caliber beats mauling a less talented squad. Will pay huge given the strength of schedule. A lot of lessons learned tonight. Moeller is for real. Hats off to the #2s, who I heard quickly made up for the disadvantage & took the lead in the 3rd.
  14. Please, just ONE more season of the Sopranos?
  15. Both of these are hard-working teams. You don't get to the top of the mountain by luck or shear talent. Of COURSE both teams work hard. The fact that SK was down by 10 to a veteran-coached team like Male and came back to win handily clearly makes them a worthy foe for any team. The fact that the Rocks hung twice as many points as X has given up all year in a game that means so much is a testament to their resolve and ingenuity. Looking forward to a great game!
  16. I think the knee-jerk reaction from those who disagree is not due to the hypothesis, but to the thread title. "No wonder..." as if to say, "Ah ha! Guess what I just learned." Certainly a factor, among many, but a road with very deep ruts.
  17. Curious. What was the most points given up by X this season? At 4 ppg (per the C-J this morning) 28 seems like a bunch.
  18. Graves County is coming to Louisville on Thursday. This is a good move considering the distance they must travel. Coach Beatty and AD Lampley have offered them the chance to practice in Marshall Stadium on Thursday or Friday. No word on whether they will take advantage of this offer.
  19. Coach Bean has the unique distinction of being the Defensive Coordinator for five St X state championship teams and for three state championship teams at Trinity. Not giving the guy credit for being a great coach who is able to craft a game plan and make adjustments is just plain silly. The facts don’t support your position.
  20. You guys are pretty hard on Coach Bean. How many points did the runner-up team score in the second half and overtime of last year's final?
