  1. I am not sure what this post means...other than the score. I know Trinity is a college-prep school, since some 98% enrolled last year, but the ID of them as "st Matthews prep" [sic] seems pretty derogatory, even for this forum.
  2. Yeah, one guy got behind on cover two and the corner got caught a little flat-footed. Other than that, they looked sharp. Eastern's QB (IMHO) was valiant, making good decisions under HEAVY pressure all night.
  3. (In the first quarter, I believe...)
  4. Dedication of a CHAIR OF HONOR that was installed at Trinity, in memory of Billy Milliner (Trinity Class of 1968) and all POW/MIAs during the pre-game ceremony, was incredible.
  5. I followed this streak as it neared 50. I started thinking about the kids' mindset, even in light of Coach Kevin Wallace's admonition to not think about the streak but just about the next down. Then I imagined myself as a 17-year-old kid. Right, I can can put that out of my mind. Even if it wasn't a very good TN team you were playing without several key players, even if all the bounces go right during the game (and when does that happen?), even if you're playing weak teams (and that certainly wasn't the case) ... at some point in time, during a critical play, "the streak" creeps into my brain and I think of that instead of what I have to do. Or before I have to do it. Or in between one play and the next. I just can't imagine how hard this was on the entire staff as it approached. Hats off to the Purples for getting to 48. I couldn't have done it.
  6. Feel inclined to come to Tre Ivory's defense...I saw the game and whether he played his best game or not can be debated, but Trinity doesn't win without his toughness, defense and aggressiveness. Period. Shot selection (at times) can be debated as with any player, but there were times when Trinity needed his ability to get to the rim. And when he got fouled tonight, he made them pay for doing it. Great high school game & environment.
  7. Congrats on a great season, Male. Scott Co. showed last year was no fluke. #realdeal
  8. Trinity did this to a lot of teams over the last two years...
  9. No idea who wins this one, but one thing is for sure: Manual is very, very good, but I suspect X will find themselves. Have to agree with the poster who complimented Manual's attack. They are talented everywhere. Ought to be a good one. #wishingicouldbeintwoplacesatonce
  10. Very welcome. Nice of Male to accommodate fans who can't make it to the game. Been quite a few doozies between these two...
  11. The game will be broadcast live on AM 970 WGTK and trinityrocks.com.
  12. I believe the losses to Trinity count against X in Ohio standings. Just playing the odds. Rocks are starting to click...this team may ultimately be comparable in lots of ways to the '02 Trinity team.
  13. Great game, electric atmosphere in a packed stadium, wonderful sportsmanship displayed on both sides, a national TV audience and a one-point victory that was in the balance until the final seconds. No downside to this one for anybody.
  14. Quick gets his football number. Scotty Davenport was there - he saw a GREAT game with a tournament atmosphere.
  15. I believe there are health benefits to using artificial turf as well, which doesn't necessarily show up in a cost analysis. Esp. in Oct. when real grass fields are as hard as concrete, would seem to be a great help in that area.
  16. I was mainly concerned about the two kids who left the stadium. No slight to CW - great kid.
  17. The second game crowd always just barely pushes the home stand capacity. In the Fall Classic, many fans plan months ahead to be in Louisville. This one is hard to plan for, I guess. I loved the contest tonight - other than the injuries. Prayers for James Quick & Dakota Jones especially. Great game. Old School.
  18. I thought X might have a chance to turn this into a field position battle on the strength of their wonderful kicker/punter. But Trinity's offense was able to advance, even pinned inside the 20, on several occasions with multiple first-down plays. Quick's run was damaging, but Trinity's defense is flat-out demoralizing. And now that Trey Wright has returned, their front four can pin their ears back. Impressive win over a solid X team. Prayers for Charles Walker. Hate to see anyone hurt in this (or any) game.
  19. Appeared to be an excellent test to prepare for the Xaverians. Cathedral is VERY well coached. Their QB is D-1 caliber and tough as nails. Some of the punishment he was taking - and getting back up from - was mind-boggling. Still, he had the same issues with overthrowing receivers and throwing a hot ball on short routes as last year. He will be much more successful in college with kids who can run and catch bullets. Anyone know where he is headed?
  20. 6'5 and just a junior! A D-1 tight end for sure.
  21. Solid effort on both sides before a packed house. Heard Wright was 21-31 - he really spread it around out there. Quick with his usual acrobatics that have become so commonplace, and Dawkins is stronger and faster. So many times the whistle blows, five guys are around him and he is still on his feet. Good D adjustments in Half II to take away their long ball.
  22. My take: Yes, kids will be kids. The difference between a positive cheering section and one that is negative or mean in tone is often a few committed adults who are willing to step in when needed.
