Very exciting game to watch. I think Brooks had 190+ yards rushing for T. T looked a lot better with the senior QB at the helm. The soph QB still makes the mistakes a soph will make but is improving every week.

This might be the most run heavy Trinity team we have had in years. The offense seemed to click better with Young in for sure.

That seemed to be their identity in the scrimmage vs Highlands. Nothing wrong with it bc T's backs are studs.

Dedication of a CHAIR OF HONOR that was installed at Trinity, in memory of Billy Milliner (Trinity Class of 1968) and all POW/MIAs during the pre-game ceremony, was incredible.

Great win for the ROCKS tonight. 35-2--32 over a Cocoa Fla. team that was loaded with speed. Rocks showed heart with the way they fought back in the second half to take command of the game. Ryan Young did a wonderful job taking over the offense in the second half. The freshman quarterback, Larry Haper struggled at times with a few Sophomore decisions that stymied drives in the first half. He will be a great T quarterback for the future. Young will be the starter moving forward. The atmosphere was incredible tonight!! Defense made great adjustments in the second half. To hold the 53rd ranked team in the country to 6 points in the second half was special. FYI! Brooks is a beast at running back!! Also, Cocoa's band was awesome too!!

Yes indeed, a much needed win. :thumb:I will enjoy putting article together for recap of this game and preview of next week's Cathedral matchup later today. Brooks was the workhorse Beatty predicted he would have to be. :DHappy to see Dalton Jones haul in two TD passes and Brooks tallied three more rushing scores. :) Young performed well in second half. Trinity won second half 21-6 after trailing 26-14 after the first half. No panic in this team. Left some points on the field against a very good squad. :idunno:Hard to believe the season one third over.:watching:

From the Courier Journal/USA Today recap:

Told that Trinity High School senior running back Donald Brooks has just one scholarship offer — from NAIA-level Kentucky Christian — Cocoa (Fla.) coach John Wilkinson simply shook his head.

After all, Wilkinson had just witnessed Brooks run roughshod over his defense.

“He’s one of the best running backs we’ve faced in 10 years I’ve been at Cocoa,” Wilkinson said. “He’s always going forward. He can run. He’s fast. He’s physical.

“I’m going to go back and call every school in Florida and tell them they’re missing the boat on him because that’s ridiculous. He’s an unbelievable player.”

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Brooks backed up those words Friday, rushing for 199 yards on 34 carries and accounting for four touchdowns as the Shamrocks posted a 35-32 victory at Marshall Stadium.

Cocoa (2-1) is ranked No. 53 in the nation by NationalHSFootball.com. Trinity (3-2) won its third straight game and showed it might also deserve a spot in the website’s top 100.

“This just means we’re one of the best teams in the state,” Brooks said. “We have enough talent and athleticism and leadership to win state.”

Trinity overcame a 26-14 halftime deficit behind the running of Brooks and a defense that held the visitors to 102 yards and four first downs in the second half. That came after a first half in which the speedy Tigers scored touchdowns on plays of 74, 11, 62 and 28 yards.
