Wake Forest is supposed to be there to watch Walls too. They came to the regional finals...

IMO - the only fair way to seed is from head to head competition. Since the teams in the state tournament do not face each other head to head - opinion and speculation enter the picture... because of this I am against seeding the state tournament.

My Scott Co. Cardinals: 1. What they do best is keep coming at you. They have a lot of weapons -both offensively and defensively. 2. What they do worst is score in the post. They have some posts who can score on fast breaks and tip-ins, but back to the basket scores are few and far between. 3. They run a fast break type of offense. They have a few sets, but mainly they push the ball. 4. The defense starts with Jimmy Warren. He guards the PG full court with intense pressure. He's kind of like a copperhead on a fallen tree waiting for you to slip and make a mistake so he can strike - to quote an old buddy "He ain't a'feerd of nuttin." Sometimes they will trap in the full court, sometimes in the half court. Tough man to man D is what you should expect to see. 5. SC shoots quite a few threes, but can also drive to the basket. 6. The bench is an asset for these Cards. Phares, a 6'7 Soph is a solid post, Tyler Portwood is a deadly shooter - and has started several games, and Guard Jordan Adams has stepped up in the post season with some quality minutes. Other Notes: The Cards have played a brutal schedule which should prepare them for the outstanding competition in the state tournament. Matt Walls and Bud Mackey are the main scorers, but Jordan Lee alters a lot of shots and Cameron Hundley gets just about every loose ball (unless Warren beats him to it). I hope the Cards bring their A game to Rupp. When they do it's fun to watch...

Coach Hicks would light any player up on his team that pulled a stunt like this. For one - Mackey wouldn't have been in the game up 40 with time running down. For two - I don't know that Bud could do that dunk :lol: But for three - He knows better than to try.

Richie and Russ Farmer were pretty fun to watch. I thought by now there would be some Myricks (Mason), Pangalos (Newport CC), and Pounceys (Holmes)... listed on this thread. Maybe they were too spread out?

scooterbob - if nothing else - you are one loyal dude. I wish I could convert you into a Scott Co. fan.

Rumors around Scott Co. say Hundley has some interest in this one... It could be a great place for him to get head coaching experience and build a program down there in "Title Town". I hope he knows to pay the proper amount of respect to the AD. LOL

This topic has come up so many times, but again - here is my take: Scott County's Rodney Haddix enrolled at St. John's school in Georgetown where he took a placement test. The test showed that he belonged in the 8th again - so that's what he did. However, since he had already passed the 8th grade at Scott Co. Middle - the rule was in place. In his case he would have been better off to purposfully (sp?) fail the 8th grade at SCMS so he could have repeated it. What a great rule - sarchasm... BTW - he has earned a 3.0 or better since repeating the 8th grade when he was no where near that before. He's the poster child for why the rule isn't in the best interests of the individual student athlete. AGAIN - IMO he was in the wrong and should not be allowed to play this year, but his situation causes me to question the rule itself...

He played on the Eddie Ford team last summer. He was up and down - a lot like this season. When he's focused and ready I don't know that there is a better player in the state than Preston. He's not really a secret - but he doesn't get near the publicity Miller from Mason Co. has gotten. IMO - his stock could really rise at the Sweet Sixteen.

I've got the GRC Cards in my bracket. They've played a tougher schedule.

If we're fortunate enough to be in a position to make that decision - Coach Hicks will put in the subs and call off the full court press. He will still play the same intense half-court defense with the reserves - trapping if they set ball screens and getting out in the passing lanes. I hope that's a decision Coach Hicks has to make on Wednesday :thumb:

8th region teams play hard and are well coached. If I remember right Simon Kenton won their second game in the Toyota Classic - the one they had to play over in the middle school gym. Also - I believe they were without Hester during the Toyota Classic. Oldham Co. is a team that if Scott Co. overlooks them it could go down to the wire. If SC comes to play they should be ok - but no reason to totally disrespect the kids who play in the 8th.

They were 9/16 predicting the region champs.

I was looking at them more as a comparison between the strength of the 11th region v/s the state tournament teams. None of these rankings serve as good predictors...
