What positives have come from the Gillispie era so far?
Hoops Yoda replied to TheLegends64's topic in College Basketball
He's probably helped the real estate market in Nicholasville too. Other positives: 1. Girls at the Blue Moon have a legit chance to hook up with a millionaire. 2. In March I'll have more free time to get spring cleaning done. 3. Darius Miller has already signed. -
Movies that can be used for educational purposes

"Glory" is a movie that Coach Hicks shows to his team every year at Scott Co. Coach Hicks is a history buff and this movie is based on a true story... -

This isn't the first time the administration at Frankfort has dropped the ball. It seems to be a theme there... -
WLEX Reports IU pulls scholarship offer from Mackey

I'd say that might be a good bet - I think AW Hamilton (former Scott Co. all-stater) is still an assistant coach there. -
The only way to eliminate the what ifs is to let kids play at whatever school they attend...

Out of control children and the parents that allow it...
Hoops Yoda replied to theguru's topic in BGP Break Room
I feel the same way about schools who let all the kids shoot around during half-time of the varsity game. It's chaos - and asking for a lawsuit... -

I agree that the kids are in danger when left alone and I agree that schools need to develop a policy regarding unsupervised children. I think the policy would be met with much resistance from parents who come to watch the game and are all too happy to let the younger brother run off some energy playing pick-up football games behind the end zone or over on the practice field, or wherever. I watched a game a few weeks ago where an administrator confiscated a football from one of the "pick up games" and it wasn't 5 minutes until the irate parent marched over and demanded the ball, gave it back to the kid and blasted the administrator for taking it in the first place... It's a different world than I grew up in. My dad would have wore me out - and told the administrator to use the ball for a PE class. -
IMO - I'd rather change the idea of No Child Left Behind and remove students rather than adding guns. By the time the kids get to high school - it is very evident that some have already been left way behind and are angry... The education system should go on trial here. Teach kids to read and do basic math - then let them pursue some things they are interested in. Vocational schools need to be growing in this country.

Who is the coach at App. State? He's mine. The man made the most of his one game.

Is that your nice way of saying he had passed out?

A lot of KHSAA supporters say that LBBC, but I have to disagree. If you move and it's a traditional sale followed by a traditional purchase then I think the KHSAA rules eligible. However, not every move is this cut and dry. If a family moves and, in this market, can't sell their home so they rent it to someone else - the kid is ruled ineligible and must have a hearing. If the family sells the house on a land contract, the kid is ruled ineligible and must have a hearing. At the hearing they look at things like utility bills, but I also have first hand knowledge that one student athlete's move was deemed non-bonafide because "the parent did not change the address on their driver's license?" The KHSAA is paranoid of kids moving for athletic purposes only. I just don't see why. If they would put the time, effort, and resources into investigating the recruiters rather than the recruitees I might be on their side, but imo they are penalizing kids unjustly.

If you had to move for some reason and your kid was penalized - you might not think it was such a good idea.

My cards left the beautiful bluegrass region last year to come to the cold, hard northeastern part of the state and play some of the best of the 16th region... After winning by about 50 every game, I'm glad we compete in the 11th. I disagree with your take on the defense. I agree my Cards could struggle this year. Everyone knows they will miss Matt Walls, but they will miss defensive stopper Jimmy Warren just as much. Plus they have a BRUTAL schedule. I haven't looked at Elliott's schedule for this year - are these kids going to be challenged? -

I don't know that anyone on here qualifies as an expert. I watched Tyler play here in Scott Co. He is a great kid and a very good shooter, but imo- not a D-1 prospect. I'm not insulting the kid - there aren't many D-1 kids coming from Kentucky these days (as shown in the other threads I started.)
