We've all seen them play - but there isn't a 3rd place or 5th place game in the tournament... How do you rank the teams that were there? Here is mine: 1. Scott Co. 2. Ballard 3. Holmes 4. Warren Central 5. South Laurel 6. GRC 7. Christian Co. 8. Paducah Tilghman 9. Fairdale 10. Owensboro 11. Adair Co. 12. Elliott Co. 13. Oldham Co. 14. June Buchannon 15. Shelby Valley 16. Lincoln Co. This one should stir the pot :lol:

I think the suspension is one of the biggest reason Holmes made it to Saturday morning. As cshs said - they had been told how good they were year after year. I think the suspension gave them a reality check and made them play with a chip on their shoulder. If they weren't suspended this year - Cov Cath comes out of the 9th IMO.

I think there were a lot of voters at the entire state tournament and saw him lead SC against Adair and Holmes. There were also a lot of folks who saw him lead his team to a win in Memorial over HHS... I think Walls biggest advantage is that he has been seen. Playing in the 11th and against Huntington got him a LOT of exposure.

I've heard Billy Donovan has a son who can really fill it up! There are some nice places here in Scott Co. with easy access to campus!

I don't know how to do a poll... does a mod have to set it up? It would be interesting to see who would get the BGP votes v/s who gets the real votes. (and to compare to other polls taken earlier in the season. Walls, Pettigrew, Profitt, Brooks, Knowles, Fralix, Becham, others?

In the dunk contest at the Beach Ball he jumped over 3 of his teammates and slammed it home... He's got some hops.

That's no where near as cool a story. No wonder he got into foul trouble.

I didn't see them - did he wear the pink ones again? He wore the pink ones during the district tournament to honor the death of Chris James (his team mate) mother who died two days after Chris's senior night from breast cancer. I thought it was a pretty cool thing. Anyway - I don't know if that's what he wore at state - I was too busy screaming and biting my nails...

He loves the "We're all on the same team" thing too.

I knew you were going to be a tough sale when you didn't join in the parade - actually turned around and went home another way... You should have come on to the gym. It was quite a party - cake and everything.

It was one of the three I mentioned in the opening post. I agree that it is a great job. Rison has had a great career there. Do Fawns and Stegar have any kids yet?:lol: I heard at the state tournament that the Graves Co. coach might have some interest. Tiller at Estill is an alum???

County pride... it means something here. I don't know how else to explain it.

It was a pretty cool, bonding, family type celebration at SCHS last night. I don't see many detriments. There are soooooo many extracurricular activities offered at SC that a kid who can't find something to do just isn't looking. I do wish they would build another gym so that there could be an intermural league for those who don't play on the varsity/jv team. There is a city league, which is free, but it would be better if it were run by the school system. However, there is a value to contending for state championships... The flipside of your point may be where schools with less than 300 or so students should be forced to consolidate with another school. No school should be so small that they cannot offer a student the opportunity to play football or other activity that requires lots of students. The SC band took up as much room in the stands as most student sections. SC has an awesome music program with several areas to participate in - all because there are enough people to teach/coach them and enough kids to fill them. Is the superintendent of a small school doing the students a dis-service because they don't have the opportunity to perform at places like the Singletary Center - because there aren't enough parents to fill the place up? Would the students be better served by combining resources with another school to create MORE overall opportunities for students? When you talk about these things maybe it's the opportunity to play varsity basketball that isn't the most important issue.

As far as I know - the football team will still be playing at Rawlings Stadium on Georgetown College's campus - where the Bengals do their spring training... it's a pretty nice place, but it does get sloppy when it is over-used and wet outside.

I think that the multiple schools divides a county. There is something to be said for "county pride". Mason Co. has it, GRC has it, and Scott Co. has it - it makes these places special. Did you see how many GRC fans were at Rupp. SC fans were fewer than normal because we played two morning games on work days, but Saturday there was a lot of SC red in Rupp. Our superintendent believes in the unity of the county - and one high school allows for everyone to be on the same page. I think the Oldham Co's and Bullitt Co's are the ones that messed up. I think when Dr. Blankenship retires the new superintendent will come in and the first thing he/she'll do is build another high school - and we'll become a divided county with no chance at winning in the 11th - it will be similar to the Jessamine Co. schools. The big game of the year will be against the cross-town rival instead of the finals of the sweet sixteen.

Nope - they built a bigger one. Next is a technology center - still part of the one high school that everyone in the county bands together to cheer for... Go Cards!

I love it when there is howling On a serious note - oldguy makes a good point. However, I thought it was a media voting decision. I would guess that they are less likely to care if both come from SC than KHSAA or KABC. There's nothing Pettigrew could do about the teams he played against or the quality of the other players on his team... and there's nothing Walls can do about attending the same school where the #1 girls basketball player also attends.

They had issues with shooting jumpers - even rested they had a tough time hitting shots from outside 10'. That said - some rest in a tournament where you have to win 4 games in 3 days would be a good idea. 32 was the only one who I thought fatigue came into play. Becham, Hamilton, and Gulson still had pretty froggy legs even at the end of the game.

And congrats to you all on your state championship too... Those were two awesome games we had. What a year this has been...
