Rank the teams in the Sweet Sixteen

Featured Replies

We've all seen them play - but there isn't a 3rd place or 5th place game in the tournament... How do you rank the teams that were there?

Here is mine:

1. Scott Co.

2. Ballard

3. Holmes

4. Warren Central

5. South Laurel

6. GRC

7. Christian Co.

8. Paducah Tilghman

9. Fairdale

10. Owensboro

11. Adair Co.

12. Elliott Co.

13. Oldham Co.

14. June Buchannon

15. Shelby Valley

16. Lincoln Co.

This one should stir the pot

I pretty much agree with that. I probably would put June Buchanan ahead of Oldham Co. Warren Central and Holmes to me is a toss up.

3. Warren Central

4. Holmes

5. Clark County

6. Christian County

7. Paducah Tilghman

8. South Laurel

9. Fairdale

10. Owensboro

11. Adair County

12. Elliott County

13. June Buchanan

I'm going to sort them into groups.

(All could have competed for a state title this yr.)

1.Scott

15.Oldham Co.

(Just glad to be there)

16.June Buchanan

15. Shelby Valley

16. Oldham County

After further review, I would flip-flop these two ...

Oldham County would have been more competitive with Elliott County than Shelby Valley was ... unfortunately for them, Oldham drew a bad mismatch with the eventual state champions.

That was probabily one of the worst games Shelby Valley had played all season long, unfortunatly for them it came in the Sweet 16. I do respect your opinion but I just don't see it. But they did beat a great Simon Kenton team to get there however...You would almost have to put them both in front of JBS though.

Ditto, except I'd move South Laurel ahead of Paducah.

Holmes and Central are close, but I'd have thought considering Central was much closer to advancing than Holmes that they'd have gotten some benefit of the doubt.

South Laurel should be better, but their chemistry issues hurt their cause. I think Tilghman's athletic front line would be the difference if they played.

Tilghman would be a tough game for South. Difference though: Tilghman's guards couldn't match up w/ Profitt.

The first list is my list from a previous thread where we were asked to rank the Sweet 16 prior.

1.Scott Co

2.Ballard

3.Holmes

4.Warren Cent

5.Clark Co

6.Christian Co

7.South Laurel

8.Fairdale

9.Paducah Tilghman

11.Oldham Co.

12.Owensboro

13.Adair Co

14.JBS

15.Lincoln Co

16.Shelby Valley

My second list is after seeing everyone down at Rupp, my rankings and I didn't change much.

1.Scott Co

2.Ballard

3.Holmes

4.Warren Cent

5.Clark Co

6.Christian Co

7.South Laurel

8.Fairdale

9.Paducah Tilghman

10.June Buchanon

11.Elliot Co

12.Adair Co

13.Oldham Co.

14.Owensboro

15.Lincoln Co

16.Shelby Valley

I think a really fun game to watch would be Elliot Co. vs. June Buchanon. We might just get to see that again next season. And then the next. And then the next. Lots of young, well coached talent on those two teams. The mountains have a lot to look forward too.
