We lost the regional championship game last year and the year before. It's big to me and many other fans - and Matt Walls - etc.

It is suprising to me that the district doesn't cancel for $$$ reasons. I would guess that about 20% of the student population will miss school to come to the game. Schools get funding based on attendence numbers. Big Red Nation will be there - no matter what. The SC fans are loyal.:ylsuper:

There is a built-in professional development day on the Scott Co. calendar every year on the Friday of the state tournament. This year it was scheduled during the girls state tournament because of the flip-flop. There was an announcement at the pep rally that if we won Wednesday then there would be no school on Friday. Like I said, they give excused absences for students with ticket stubs - and I bet there are no more substitute teachers available on Wednesday...

What is the school board policy for students who miss class to go to the Sweet 16? In Scott Co. they will give an excused absence on Wednesday - provided the student has a ticket stub. If we are lucky enough to make it to Friday - Scott Co. will not have school. How do they deal with this issue in the other districts represented at the Sweet 16?

This is brilliant. It took someone taking a leap of faith to get the All A Classic started in a state that prides itself on not having basketball classes. Rojas - I think you could be the next Stan Stiedel...

You're right rojas - Jimmy Warren and Cam Hundley are great to watch. You don't see them on the stat page, but they get after people.

This year the Hundley family will be all over the state tournament. Oldest Brother Brian is an assistant at Shelby Valley. Middle brother Scott is an assistant at Scott County. Youngest brother Cameron is a junior at Scott County. Have there been other family connections in the Sweet 16?

Do you have to win the region to be a perennial power? I would call Shelby and Oldham perennial powers in the 8th also.

I don't mind us being in the 11th. It's great games almost every night. I don't like the way it was done. Weather it influenced the KHSAA decision or not - the line was drawn.

You speak of things which you have no clue my friend. The 8th region is full of jealousy and back stabbing. How could Coach Hicks have gone all those years and NOT ONCE been voted coach of the year by his peers - jealousy. Why was Clay County able to petition to stay in the same region - granted; while Scott Co's petition was denied? Do you know who spoke up at the meeting giving reasons why Scott Co. should be moved to the 11th? Someone made the prediction that it will be a cold handshake to start the game - that's the surest bet going.... I've given props - Forrest is a good coach. He'll have a good game plan. But I hope Walls and company take care of business in this one.

Some folks may look at the rankings and the records and think that Scott Co. will blow out Oldham Co. A closer look might show that Gary Forrest's teams have done quite well against SC. The underlying anamocity that stemmed from SC being kicked out of the 8th region just throws fuel on the fire. I'm guessing that this one will be closer than most people think. I'll take the Cards 62-54 - it will be an ugly game and there will be many who leave the gym unimpressed with SC.

Injuries for GRC. When we played them in the Toyota classic - Tristan Jones still had a big cast on his hand. Injuries and other reasons for Holmes. I posted a while back that the disciplinary actions of the administration at Holmes was the best thing that could have happened to that team. The kids came back focused and with a chip on their shoulder. They will be a tough out in the tournament. I bet they act right in the hotel this trip to Lexington...:thumb:
