I don't know that they had 20 turnovers, but you're right rojas. It seemed like the Cards tried to jump up in the air to pass the ball and BS got their hands on a LOT of passes. It could have been a blow out had we taken care of the ball. Station had a tough time scoring in the half court. It was offensive rebounds and scoring off turnovers where they got their points.

Could make for a Simon Kenton v/s Shelby match up in the first round... Congrats to Coach Drury and the Bearcats.

Observations: 1. I can't believe the fire marshall made them stop letting people in. It was full, but c'mon. 2. Station came out focused and ready to play tonight - no Mohawks like last year's district finals. 3. Scott Co's studs stepped up big tonight, but it was again Jimmy Warren's defense on Shelvin Mack along with Jordan Lee's rebounding that got the Cards the win. 4. Matt Walls took two charges tonight (he took 3 but one wasn't called). 5. There was a stretch in the 2nd quarter where Bud Mackey was all-universe. He scored 8 points - got 2 steals and took a charge in about 90 seconds. It was awesome. 6. This game was played above the rim. There were lots of blocked shots and high flying scores. 7. Station's press was as good as I've seen it all year. SC struggled to get the ball across half court at times. 8. I'd love for us to face Station a 4th time - that would mean we are in the regional finals!

The award isn't really about what the player "went on to do" - but about what kind of high school career he had. I do think that if Matt can play well and lead his team deep into the tournament - that should carry some weight with those who vote. I'm not putting down Pettigrew at all - or diminishing what he did this year. But Walls has done some great things too. Rex was awesome.

Just think if Scott Co. still had Haddix - there would be an argument who was the best player on the team with 3 names involved. I'd still pick Walls because of his leadership skills and his determination to "bring it" every time he steps on the floor.

Who took over the coaching spot at Western when KC Goodin left to take a college job? Did Handley take back over?

That honor might go to Darius Miller from Mason Co. from what I've seen. There are nights when Mackey is the best SCORER on Scott Co's team, but there are very few nights when Walls is not the best PLAYER. Walls is the guy who hits the majority of the "big shots", Walls is without a doubt the emotional leader of the team. He comes to play every night - even when his shot is off. I love both of these boys, and I'm glad they are both SC Cards, but maturity is what separates them right now.

I agree with this part of the post 100%. I hope "Mr. Pettigrew" goes on to have a great college career. (I still think he's a better player than Bobby Perry and Sheray Thomas). Good luck.

If Pettigrew was on Scott Co's team you could make this same argument - it would be a legitimate question if he were better than Mackey or Walls... Actually, if we could borrow him now that E-town is out... Mr. Basketball is for the best SENIOR in the state. Juniors - even if they are better - are not in the running. Last year's Mr. Basketball was arguably not the best player on his team either.

Could it have been that his intensity with the refs got the blocking call for his PG that won them the game? There's a fine line between genius and insanity:lol:

Call me crazy, but I think I'd rather play Station than Catholic or Madison Central... Scott Co. seems to play better against the up and down style (Station) rather than the football physical style (Catholic and MC). I'd also have to disagree with one other comment - I'd take Feldhaus as my coach over Ligon every day of the week.

I believe the time of the voting has changed since then. When Stockton won it they voted prior to the state tournament - but now voting will not take place until afterward.

Coach Hicks seems to have Conner in the regional tournament every year. Way to go Cougars!

If Walls or Profit (or others) lead their teams deep into the tournament can they overcome the stats Pettigrew put up this year?

It's not usually 2 kids trying to do it all... Jimmy Warren and Cameron Hundley have accepted the roles that help this team be so successful. Yes, Walls and Mackey do most of the scoring - but to me Portwood and Lee are the X factors for the Cards. If Portwood can play like he did against Henry Clay (8 or 9 rebounds!) the other night I like my Cards chances.

When they had David Evans and Roni Robinson they were really tough - and had a chance to make a run at the region.

There could be a really good draw for someone.

What are your thoughts on this one? It is at Scott Co - Friday at 8pm. Scott Co. won the first two meetings - but the games were pretty close. A lot is riding on this game - the winner gets to play at home against the loser from another district. The loser will have to play at the home site of another district winner... After the first round of the regional tournament all games are played at EKU.

No - he was walking around and appeared to be fine. He was sitting next to Bud Mackey from Scott Co. a lot of the night. :confused: They can have this round as long as my Cards win round 4!

I thought Sayre would put up a better fight in this one. When I walked in the gym half way through the first quarter it was 15-12 Station. It got worse quickly. Burnett from Station was in street clothes tonight. Anyone know what's going on there? Friday night - Scott Co. v/s Station round 3. It could very well be round 4 in the regional finals.

That's what I'm hoping the Station players are thinking tonight.

I agree - if he and the team and Coach Humphrey get on the same page, it could be like the Holmes situation - peaking in March...

Tonight at Scott Co. high. Does Sayre have a chance of sneaking up on Station in this one. They beat Henry Clay this year and played my beloved Cards tough... I know - wishful thinking, but I had to get it on here.

In the far west - St. Mary over traditional power Graves Co. has to be considered a big upset.
