Fayette Co. has some very restrictive policies about band participation - from what I understand. I don't think they can come to games until the tournament starts... The competition is great in the 11th - but the fans are weak in the city limits.

I live in G-town now, but grew up in the "small school" - played ball at the "small school". My opinion was the same then as it is now.

There is some value in having to fight through adversity. It's ok for little Johnny to learn the value of hard work by fighting for a job in practice. It's ok for him to learn the reality of competition when someone else plays more minutes. The parents of this generation seem to have an aire of entitlement - not one of education.

Teams that play lazy and uninterested but have HUGE talent are dangerous. Boyd and Moses are very good athletes. Bowman is streaky. If he gets on a hot streak in a one game tournament he could help them send someone home early. I don't think it will happen (I really hope not) but the potential is there.

I bet AJ and the team from Richmond thinks they have a good chance. It is senior night for SC. Should be a great atmosphere - MC always brings a good fan base. I hope we send Matt Walls and the other seniors off right.

It does benefit the small schools if they win during the regular season. Example: Sayre beat Henry Clay this year so they EARNED the 3rd seed in the district tournament - they get to play Bryan Station instead of Scott County Maybe there should be a policy where big schools can only play left handed - maybe the small schools should be able to play with a 6th player.... if we're trying to make it all even - every opportunity for the underdog - no child/small school left behind... Give me a break.

I don't think you understand. Part of the reason he has such good players is that he works CONSTANTLY building the program. He has tons of summer camps for the younger generation of Cardinals - teaching them the skills and developing the relationships that make a program great. Someone "off the street" and THE MAJORITY of high school coaches don't have the committment coach Hicks does. As far as half-time adjustments go - he and his staff may fine tune a few things, but SC does what they do - trap/pressure/push the ball. That's how they practice and that's how they play games. You are entitled to your opinion - I just think you are way wrong.

It's good to see Knowles is back in action.

We have one Boys/Girls double header every year at Scott Co. It is the Mason Co. game. I think that Mason requests it. It's a nice change of pace, but I feel like our JV team misses out on a great opportunity to play Mason's JV because of it. Our girls team is awesome and draws a good crowd on their own. It's not quite as big as the boys games, but the fans are LOYAL to the Lady Cards.

There are more than 5 in the 11th that could knock off my Cards. We open the district tournament with Henry Clay. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Scott Co. may not make it to the regional tournament.

My beloved Scott Co. might be called "The Dojo" or maybe "The House of Hicks" - yeah we know it and we're proud. One of the best I've heard was about Kentucky - "CurRUPt Arena"

One of the players in the JV game got a tech for Scott Co. Not in the varsity game. The only tech on the stat page says "Bench".

Walls had another big game tonight on a big stage at Lexington Catholic. His "and one" 12' jumper with the game on the line was CLUTCH. Don't doubt the value of the "big stage" - and Walls has been on quite a few this season.

I didn't mean to imply that there was anything dirty about it - the kid was simply going for the ball... I just thought it was an obvious foul that wasn't called. Classy post knightsdad. :thumb: There are a lot of things the SC student section comes up with that I could do without too. I wouldn't want them behind me at a ballgame (especially if I had my child with me) I'll give the Lex Cath kids their props too - After the war was over Novosel and Stewart (who had battled their tails off) showed as much class as I've seen out of a couple of 17/18 year old kids. I love it when kids give their all on the court - and do everything in their power to win the game and when it's over - shake hands and look the opponent in the eye. No throwing chairs or pealing off jerseys or not going through the handshake line. Classy kids.

I don't know how much luck had to do with that one sportsboy:sleep: They couldn't put it in the hole that night. We got them the year before at Ballard too. I just hope we both make it that far... It's not the Bruins that we're worried about at this point.

Absolutely not, but if we are talking about it - I'm sure the refs are talking about it. Those guys are friends and try to help each other out. I talked to the asst. coach from Franklin Co. tonight and I did find out who the refs were for the Madison Central/Franklin Co. game. One un-named official in particular was exactly who I thought it was - and it explains everything. I am willing to bet he had no knowledge of the previous incident because even the other refs won't talk to this guy. He's a whistle hog.

I'm not so sure next year will be better... I think they will miss Mr. Walls a lot next year. Others will step up, but he is the emotional and physical leader of this team. They will also miss Jimmy Warren's defensive ball pressure and toughness.
