I heard that they drew wrong and now they are having a re-draw today? How can you draw wrong? You draw a number and then you go to that spot on the bracket. Doesn't seem like rocket science.

I heard that Bellevue's AD was a big factor in the re-draw. He apparently is the one who brought up the error to the KHSAA. Anyone have any info on this?

I don't know anything about the Bellevue AD's involvement, but I have heard that the brackets were mis-submitted to the KHSAA, who have mandated a Re-Draw of the 36th District tournament that will be held sometime on Tuesday.

 

I guess if you stick around long enough you will see it all.

 

The last time I remember anything like this happening was during a 10th Region Girls draw some years ago, when a pill spilled out of the bottle and fell on the floor. They then started the draw all over again.

Yes the draw was conducted incorrectly. Conducted is the wrong word, the bracket was laid out incorrectly and submitted. KHSAA was involved and did state that a redraw would be necessary. Not sitting well with a couple of people who had "nice" draws but right is right and wrong is wrong.

More like NCC folks are probably not happy. One win against Bellevue and they were in the Regional.

 

I seriously hope it ends up Dayton vs. Bellevue with the winner advancing to the Finals. : )

I guess one could make the argument that if KY is not going to classify b-ball then the blind draw should be allowed in order to give the small schools a chance to play a little longer. I'm not sure if I completely buy that but I get the argument.

Why do the small schools need to benefit? I thought this was high school competitive sports? This isn't 3rd grade instructional league "let everyone play" is it? If you want a chance at the region, work your butt off and beat somebody during the regular season. Don't hope for a good draw so you can get to the region.

This one is simple. Those players at the smallest schools DO work their butts off and do SOMETIMES pull off the giant upsets. But the FACTS of the matter are that smaller schools simply don't have the bodies available to them to compete with a Highlands, or other large school. Not every district has that problem but there are some that do. The whole public /private debate to me was such a joke when by far the most glaring inequity in high school sports is the single class competition in basketball. baseball and other sports. I'll gladly compete with a NewCath and work like crazy to play up to their standard of competition, but expect a small school to routinely compete with the like of Male, PRP, Henry Clay, etc. is simply ridiculous and self serving. At this time the only recourse available to small schools is to force the issue by forcing blind draws.
