Hoops Yoda Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 If Walls or Profit (or others) lead their teams deep into the tournament can they overcome the stats Pettigrew put up this year?
Jim Schue Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 It's gonna be tough. Pettigrew has posted some out-of-this-world numbers this year.
HOOPDR Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I think it hurt's his chances especially if Scott or S. Laurel goes deep. It can't help that E-town has not advanced to the sweet 16 for the second straight year.
Cawoodball player Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 When Brandon Stockton won Mr. Basketball, his Glasgow team took an early exit. I think Pettigrew is the best player in the state, and deserves it.
skfan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I think Holmes thrashing of this E-Town team hurt him as much as this latest loss!!
CatchMeIfYouCan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 What does Pettigrew's final statistics look like ? PPG, RPG, BPG, STP. What is E'Towns final record ?
NEERFAN Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 The two top teams knocked off in the district, both teams advancing lost multiple times the teams they beat. I agree with JS, Pettigrew put up some nice numbers.
westsider Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 It shouldn't ... Pettigrew is still the best player in the state.
kwl1977 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I think if Scott Co. goes deep in post season Walls should be Mr. Basketball. Something has to be said about Scott co. schedule. The numbers Walls has put up against that competition should be what wins it for him. Etown has not played that tough a schedule, and their record is still 17-11. I still think it will be hard for him to beat Pettigrew, but this award should go to Walls.

Hoops Yoda Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 When Brandon Stockton won Mr. Basketball, his Glasgow team took an early exit. When Stockton won it they voted prior to the state tournament - but now voting will not take place until afterward.
FANOFTHE11th Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I've seen Petigrew and Walls play. I like Walls for Mr. Basketball. He not only has the skills and the stats, but also the leadership ability and a strong will to win. I don't know what comes with a preferred walk on offer that UK has extended, but I hope he ends up at UK, because I think he can play at that level. I think Scott County is a heavy favorite to win the 11th, but they can't afford an off night in their Region run. Especially once they make it Richmond.
gchs_uk9 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Like much of the state, I hate that they lost because I hadn't got to see him play yet! I was banking on watching him at Rupp.
DragonFire Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I believe the time of the voting has changed since then. When Stockton won it they voted prior to the state tournament - but now voting will not take place until afterward. Additionally, both Stockton and Carrier before him were UK signees before the season, which led to greater exposure and may have slanted some votes towards them. Both their teams lost in the region semifinals.
