Danville Coaching Situation

Featured Replies

What is the situation at Danville? Have they found a new coach yet? With Danville being a football school is there any chance to start a successful program or do some of the athletes not play both sports?

There is a great chance to have success at Danville. The new coach must be able to keep the best players out on the floor and not have them quit or transfer to other schools.

Who are the top candidates for the job?

What an opportunity! Danville should be a great place to build.

Rumors around Scott Co. say Hundley has some interest in this one... It could be a great place for him to get head coaching experience and build a program down there in "Title Town". I hope he knows to pay the proper amount of respect to the AD. LOL

I think Danville would do well to get Hundley. The only reservation I would have with him would be he turns the team around pretty quick and he moves on to a bigger school.

There is no reason that Danville, with the athletes that the football team always seems to have at its disposal, can't be a Class A power and regular 12th Region contender.

If someone did that, whether it was Hundley or whoever, it's still good for Danville. The program gets turned around, and the job becomes more attractive next time around.

Jason Holland @ Henry County

Don't bet on it.

Very true. Danville could get to the level of competing for the class A, but to be perfectly honest not many A schools have a chance to do much at state.

Coach Holland from Henry is not interested, I heard that today!

I heard today from a very good source that Hundley is really interested in the job

They need some consistently good coaching. It doesn't have to come from the same person, though. I would compare Danville basketball to jobs like Xavier and Tulsa in the NCAA. They know they will lose their coach to a big school soon, but they make good hires to keep their program doing well.

What's amazing is that Danville last won a region in 1990. Before that it was 1973. And their regional contender teams have been few and far between. I think more should be expected out of Danville and many others do as well.
